The Regattabar opened on January 29, 1985, and has since become the leading jazz club not only in Boston, but in New England as well. Boston magazine bestowed its “Best of Boston Award” 14 times naming The Regattabar “Best Jazz Club”, and in 2003, inducted The Regattabar into its “Best of Boston Hall of Fame”. A GRAMMY Award-winning banjoist, composer, and producer, Alison Brown has redefined what the banjo can do, blending the drive of bluegrass with the harmonic sophistication of jazz. After leaving a successful career in investment banking to pursue music full-time, Brown toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station before forming the Alison Brown Quartet.
