Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Ossa A'More tonight! Tickets are $10 on Eventbrite or at the door! See you there!...🦎

Ossa A'More is an independent hip-hop and soul artist who constructs immersive sonic worlds through cinematic production, layered arrangements, and precise vocal work. Her music merges melodic rap with alternative R&B—moody, textured, and distinctly visual.

Rather than following a formula, Ossa A'More prioritizes storytelling and world-building across all mediums—sonic, visual, and conceptual. She maintains complete artistic control, with each release functioning as a cohesive statement where visual accompaniment is integral to the concept.

Her sound sits at the intersection of introspective songwriting and forward-thinking production, drawing from contemporary hip-hop, soul, and art-adjacent aesthetics. Currently developing new music and expanding her live performance practice.

Ask Carol tonight at the Lizard Lounge! Tickets are $20 on Eventbrite or $25 at the door starting at 7 o'clock, they're moving fast so grab em while you can!🔥 See you there...🦎

Ask Carol is an alternative indie-rock duo that has emerged from the remote Norwegian mountain community of Auma, ready to shake up the music scene. Don't let the small size of this band fool you - with two guitars, drums, synth, Carol's unique bass and guitar system, and a bit of multitasking, Ask Carol packs a punch with a sound as big as a full band. The music of this high-energy power-duo ranges from fierce and mean to soft and comforting, drawing inspiration from the likes of the Kills, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the White Stripes, all with a distinct Nordic, melancholic twist.
Ask Carol has already made a name for themselves on the international stage, touring in the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Scandinavia, and performing at SXSW several times (2024, 2023, 2018). They've also had the privilege of supporting The Brian Jonestown Massacre on tour. In August 2022, they released their highly-anticipated debut album through their own indie label, ChoVan Records, to widespread acclaim from the press, including a 5/6 rating in Dagbladet, one of Norway's largest newspapers. Their sophomore album, AC II: Desert Sky, followed, with an exclusive Vinyl release in February 2026.

Led by Alex Calabrese, Worcester-based folk project, Old Tom & The Lookouts blend the introspective grit of Americana with the emotional rawness of Indie-Rock. Known for their brooding lyrics and powerful storytelling, the band explores themes of mental health, love, and resilience. Drawing influences from artists like Counting Crows, Pinegrove, and The Band, Calabrese’s evocative vocals and poignant songwriting strike a chord with listeners searching for authenticity and emotional depth.

Life moves in seasons. Between birth and death, we experience joy, pain, loss, triumph, and everything else in between. The human condition hinges upon such instances of constant change. Boston singer and songwriter Billy Dodge Moody ponders this ebb and flow on his third full-length and debut album for Pasadena Records, Condition. Over a patchwork of Americana, soul, and rock, he explores family dynamics, depression, marriage, and saying goodbye to friends and loved ones gone too soon with unfiltered candor.

Marley Hale, Grace Givertz and Tiberius tonight (Thursday) at 8 o'clock! Tickets are $15 on Eventbrite or $20 at the door starting at 7! Tiberius kicks off at 8! See you there...🦎

With a beguiling voice that would feel right at home on classic country radio, Marley Hale delivers a captivating country/folk sound rooted in the refined yet adventurous musicality she’s cultivated almost her entire life. As revealed on her debut EP, By My Own Ways, to be released July 26, 2024, the Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter matches her timeless sensibilities and graceful musicianship with a one-of-a-kind narrative voice, endlessly merging raw truth with mesmerizing storytelling.

Hailing from the sunshine state of Florida, Boston based artist Grace Givertz captivates audiences with her indie folk compositions, blending earworm melodies with heartfelt storytelling. As a multi-instrumentalist, she infuses her music with a diverse array of sounds, weaving folk, Americana, and indie rock into a tapestry uniquely her own.

Boston-based, non-binary-led group Tiberius have just issued ‘Troubadour,’ their label debut album, via Audio Antihero (Frog / Avery Friedman / CIAO MALZ / Magana / Josaleigh Pollett).
Originally a solo project of Rutland, Vermont’s Brendan Wright (they/them), Tiberius has evolved into a catchy and cacophonous four-piece that blends Indie Punk, Alt Country and Psychedelia with confessional, conversational songwriting to create a sound they’ve jokingly dubbed “Farm Emo.”

Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam Slam Team Takeover tonight! Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door! See you there...🦎

The Slam Team will be hosting a night for more poetry and more poets! We’re hoping to create more opportunities for poets to share their work, offer more open mic space, and make room for themed events, alternative formats, and exciting experiments.
Whether you’re a regular with a weekly seat or stepping down our stairs for the first time, we invite you to join as we celebrate how poetry challenges and connects us. Each Takeover will be a little different, but each time we’ll be booting Blake off the stage. Come see what happens when we hand the keys to the poets.

For the September Takeover, our theme is Art Without Ego: An Other's People's Poetry Slam.

Hosted by Toni Blue Rose, aka Blue Tongue Skink

Who helped you become the poet you are today?

Inspired by the philosophy of the late Boston poet Lucci - "Art Without Ego" - this month's Takeover celebrates the voices that inspire us, challenge us, and remind us that none of us become poets alone.

Competitors in the slam will perform a poem written by someone else. It can be a favorite writer, a mentor, a teammate, a family member, someone we've lost, or even someone sitting in the audience. Before or after each performance, poets will share who they chose and why that poet or poem has influenced their life or writing.

For one night, original work will result in a point deduction, as we celebrate interpretation, gratitude, mentorship, and honoring the voices that helped shape our own.

Tonight at the Lizard Lounge, Sinnet celebrates the release of their single "Strange Currency" featuring guest vocalist Julie Rhodes with Jon Nolan & Good Co, and Jake McKelvie! Tickets are $15 advance and available now on Eventbrite or get em at the door for $20! Jake McKelvie kicks things off at 7:30! See you there!...🦎

Built around songwriter Aaron Spransy, Sinnet is a Boston-based band blending indie rock and soul into human-scale songs—sweet melodies, a little grit at the edges, and arrangements that feel like old friends showing up right on time. Named after his late mother's tennis-themed license plate, Sinnet is as personal as it is tuneful. Sinnet’ssound draws inspiration from artists like Paul Simon, Spoon, Nathaniel Rateliff, Richard Swift and Booker T & The MGs.

Jon Nolan is an internationally touring musician and producer from the mill town of Newmarket, NH, currently on tour in support of his third album, Slow Cooker (Strolling Bones / New West). “Slow Cooker” landed on both WBUR Boston and NPR’s All Songs Considered “Best of” Fall lists. Still fronting New England alt-country stalwarts Say ZuZu (also on Strolling Bones / New West), Nolan’s work with his backing band Good Co. explores the dreamier, pop-infused edges of his Americana sensibility.

Jake McKelvie has traveled the DIY touring circuit in the US and UK for over a decade, carving out a niche for himself as a songwriter and performer. Known for his off-kilter "stream of self-consciousness" lyricism, he sings his songs either as a solo performer or with his newly minted backing band, "the New Old Band".

Ohm Foam celebrates the release of their latest album "Suds" tonight with Quantum Moon at 8 o'clock! Tickets are $15 on Eventbrite or $20 at the door starting at 7! See you there...🦎

Ohm Foam, the instrumental psych power trio from Boston (by way of Andromeda), prepares to unveil its latest concoction - their second LP entitled Suds. Consisting of Charlie Gargano (guitar), Renee Goudreau (bass guitar), and Billy Leva (drums), the group further advances the evolution of “cosmic fungal rock” - that is, wailing guitar solos against otherworldly backing loops, primal yet dynamic drum and bass grooves, and psyched out improv passages. On Suds, this blend is augmented by keyboards, percussion, and trumpet. The songs - brighter, funkier, and more vibrant this time around - segue together like pools of energized plasma.

"Quantum Moon, a four piece outfit headed by local trumpeter Matt Kelly, isn't easily pinned to a genre. Fusing elements of free jazz, funk, rock, and more the band navigates deep waters and celestial planes while keeping a pulsing undercurrent of steady groove. The musicians set up a delicate interplay which leads to surprising and spontaneous moments which make each show unique. Keep an eye out and your ears open and you might get pulled into their orbit."
