Next up for Big Rob's Pinball Repair, a personal favorite of mine, Gottlieb Bank-a-Ball from 1965. Another family heirloom for me to bring back to life. Bought by the current owners mother in 1970. Inherited by him and out of commission for at least 20 years.

Butterfly by Sonic of Spain from 1977 is done and ready to go back to the customer. I really enjoyed having this one in the shop and I hate to see it go. I like machines you don't see every day and the artwork on this one is beautiful.

Customer wanted it 100% functional and reliable and cleaned up a bit but kept as original as possible. It came out great. Playfield polished up nice and shiny as did most of the metal parts. Backglass is flawless. Been in their family for a long time. It looks awesome, plays great and I know the owner and their family are going to love it. Be on the lookout for a gameplay video coming soon.

Love me some shiny parts! Lol. Buffing and polishing metal parts is probably one of my most satisfying & rewarding services. Something about seeing those dull, crusty pieces shine in the sun is awesome.

On the negative side, it kills my poor back! Aaaaand, let's not even talk about the fact that I spent 4 hours polishing a lot of parts nobody will probably ever see. 🤷‍♂️😂 These particular bits and pieces are from a customer's Sonic Butterfly if anyone was wondering.

As promised, gameplay video from the testing process on Bally Captain Fantastic. As you can clearly see, I'm no pinball wizard. At least, not when it comes to PLAYING the games. 🤷‍♂️😂😂🔧🧙‍♂️🔧

Bally Captain Fantastic finished up and ready to go back to Portal Pinball Arcade for everyone to play & enjoy. Some before and after photos. Previous owner LOVED some alligator clips. 🤦‍♂️ Got all that removed and fixed the right way.

Drop targets were in rough shape and needed a total rebuild. They weren't resetting. Some previous owner got pretty creative trying to "fix" those as well and added an additional reset coil to the other side of the drop target assembly. And they ran power to it with, YOU GUESSED IT, alligator clips. 😵🤣

Cleaned & rebuilt steppers, cleaned jones plugs, replaced broken fuse holders & burnt out bulbs, new back door lock, and finished up with an in-depth playfield shop job. Completely stripped playfield, cleaned & polished field & applied 3 coats of wax. Cleaned & polished plastics, posts, & metal parts, cleaned all light sockets & switches, & installed new rubbers. Also fixed a bunch of stripped holes and fixed & replaced almost every bolt on upper apron. They kept snapping off for some reason.

Turned out great and can't wait to see it sitting next to the Wizard at Portal! Gameplay video coming soon.

Busy Saturday for Big Rob's Pinball Repair. Back out to Four Million B.C. to install the parts I ordered. Everything working perfectly now.

Next I picked up something "completely different". New project for my personal collection. NOT a pinball this time. Chicago Coin Speedway circa 1969-1974. EM driving game that uses light projected through spinning disks and little cars to project the action onto a screen. I'm always trying to expand my EM skills by working on different types of games. I've got experience with bowlers, "manikin" hockey, and even a basketball game. Soon I'll be able to add driving games to that.

Ended the day with a service call to a Gottlieb Card Whiz. Completely dead when I got there. After some investigation and adjustments I got the game to turn on & start. But it's been sitting a long time and has a lot of issues. So it'll have to join my ever-growing waiting list so it can be brought to my shop and serviced completely.

It's SONIC SUNDAY at Big Rob's Pinball Repair! Before recently I had never even seen a Sonic/Segasa machine. After a 6 hour trip to northern Alabama today, I now have TWO of these Spanish made machines in the shop. Both made in 1977.

Mars Trek was picked up today and will be the 28th game in my personal collection. Butterfly belongs to a customer and is undergoing restoration. Got the playfield stripped and all of the stepper units cleaned & rebuilt. Also cleaned, adjusted, & tested every switch on the bottom board. Work in progress and much more to do before returning it to the customer.

❤️Valentines Day❤️ pin-tivities with Big Rob's Pinball Repair part time employee/wife. 😂 In-home estimate on a Gottlieb Liberty Belle from 1962. Cool machine that's been in the owner's family for a long time.

Checked out Solar Slice Pizza in Marietta for some out of this world pizza and "galaxy" knots. Check out that glittery purple garlic sauce. Stained our fingers but tasted awesome! Lol. And the best part, they have pinball machines!

Then I visited an old friend, Bally Four Million B.C. The "tar pit" relay developed an issue and needed some adjustment. Also identified an issue with the gate sticking. Gotta order parts and rebuild another day.

Another one freshly delivered to Big Rob's Pinball Repair. Not one you see every day. Butterfly by Sonic (Segasa) of Spain from 1977. I love working on the more obscure machines and I'm excited to bring this one back to life.

The artwork on this machine is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. My only criticism would be regarding the playfield art. Really wish they would have made the playfield match the artistic beauty of the cabinet and backglass.
