Wow! What a great roping. We were up in teams and home before dark. That is a win win day if you ask me! We really appreciate all of you for being there, and we can’t wait for next year.

If you are one of the top 20 teams coming back to the rodeo, I will be working on the days you are up in the rodeo today. We have several people that need (want) trades, but they are not guaranteed. Some of you made the trades happen because you came upstairs and found someone to trade with. We are only allowed to run so many teams per night, and will try to accommodate everyone as well as possible.

If I did not receive a W9 from you, be aware that you will not receive your check until I get one. Thank you to those that came upstairs and got them filled out last night.

I will have results from the incentive in the first go around posted later today. Thank you all again for another great roping!!

Doc was a great man. We can't wait to remember him with our great century roping named in his honor.

Tomorrow is the and we're celebrating by remembering our founder's legacy.

Millard Wallace Ickes, DVM, and founder of MWI, emulated the cowboy persona and culture which includes hard work, grit and is still very much a part of us.

To answer some questions that have been looming around...
Q. Why did we change the date?
A. Slack has been moved to early Monday morning. The rodeo board has A LOT going on to get "rodeo ready" for the arena, contestants, and stock. It was difficult to get it done the night/morning before slack begins.
Q. Why not earlier on August 4th?
A. Personally, I would love for it to be at 10am. With other events happening that day, we felt 3pm was a fair start time to attempt to accommodate ropers and spectators.
Q. Again, why isn't it later in the evening?
A. Over the past several years there have been ropers that have requested for it to start earlier so they aren't getting home so late. There are quite a few ropers from out of town that want to get out of there a bit earlier.

We know change is hard for some. There have been people on both sides of the fence...some are excited for the change, some are not, and some just don't have any opinions about it and will be there for this great roping. We hope you will look at the pros and cons and embrace the change, the board and committee will be doing the same.

With that being said, if you have a conflict and can not be there right at 3pm, please contact Kelli and she will work with you as best as possible.
