Just wanted to let everyone know that Iam not accepting any more turkeys for 2026 at this time. Freezers are full and I have plenty to keep me busy for a while. Thanks to everyone that has supported Final Roost Taxidermy. Will try to keep everyone updated here on fb the process through out.

Getting alot of questions from people on what they should do if they harvest a bird they want to get mounted. Biggest first step. NEVER SHOOT A TURKEY IN FULL STRUT! Wait until he has his head up or stretched out before you pull the trigger. I have attached a video to help explain the other steps. This not only helps me as a taxidermist it helps other taxidermist also. Field care is very important in getting a quality mount back. Good luck to all the youth hunters tomorrow morning in the Buckeye State.

🌟 Meet Dave Schott – Final Roost Taxidermy 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Dave Schott, the craftsman behind Final Roost Taxidermy in Caldwell, Ohio!

Dave was raised right here in Caldwell and continues to live on his family farm—the same place his grandparents once called home. With over 40 years of hunting and trapping experience, his deep-rooted passion for the outdoors is at the heart of everything he does.

Turkey hunting holds a special place for Dave. In 2022, he achieved an incredible milestone by completing his Turkey Grand Slam—a testament to his dedication and skill.

While in high school Dave assisted Herb Hulls of Herb’s Taxidermy where he learned the basics and developed a mentor. Dave honed his taxidermy expertise at Hazel Creek Taxidermy School in Missouri in 2024, bringing both professional training and lifelong experience to his work.

Whether it’s preserving a trophy or honoring a memory, Dave takes pride in helping others tell their outdoor stories through quality taxidermy.

Wanted to welcome everyone to my fb page. As I begin my third season taking in turkeys I would like to thank all my past customers for their trust in me to make their trophies come to life again for many years in their homes. I only do mounts that have to do with turkeys. I do not have shop hours and only take work by appointment only. I will be posting pictures of some of my work over the last couple years in future post in the coming weeks.
