Project Announcement: Final Tour (CALL FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES) ********* It is 1968 and 22 year US Army Major, Foster Stevens, has retired after three combat tours in South Korea and two in Vietnam. His son, David, is drafted and Major Stevens requests recall in order to ensure his son remains stateside. He is given a special command for his last, and final, combat tour running from April 1968 through July of 1969. This film documents his Final Tour through his Super 8 movies and letters sent back home to his family while he is in country. We are asking Vietnam veterans and their families to help make this film accurate and respectful by sharing their experiences and views on the events that transpired during that time. Hey everyone. I know it has been awhile since I have posted but I have been working on some pretty complicated projects that are just now coming to fruition. Today I will be launching the first of these, Final Tour, as a way to observe Veterans Day. I just want to say Thank You to everyone who has or is serving in our military. In addition, I would also like to send out thanks to people who serve in significant civilian roles that focus on preserving our public safety. Firefighters, EMT's and Police Officers come to mind but there are others as well.

Dennis has been both a friend and an inspiration to me and many others. He has overcome a lot of adversity through life and just wants to go show what he's made of on the stage. Let's not let money he this great man from the opportunity to compete and do what he loves!

I need to poll everyone. I am putting together a proposal for a live streaming show that allows viewers to contact the host, me, with questions or discussion during the program. It would run one hour a week, just like any other series, and would be focused on health and fitness. The general approach would involve helping people achieve balance with their diet, exercise, emotional, and mental health. I envision a "no excuses" approach that promotes stress reduction and achievement through overcoming existing barriers. I need a title and can't think of anything that would catch potential viewers' attention. Any ideas?????????

The clock is ticking. The first unit starts arriving tomorrow and talent arrives on Tuesday. If everything goes right, I will finally be able to shoot using a method I have wanted to try since my first Straight 8 entry. Essentially, the idea is to shoot the entire film in digital and then use the digital film as the storyboard for the 8mm shoot, which is the final film. Anyone not familiar with the limitations of the Straight 8 competition can go to www.straight8.net to see what we are shooting for. I WILL make the cut for Cannes this year...because I said so. A photo diary will be upcoming for anyone wanting to follow along.

It feels VERY good to be cycling back up from an intensive planning period that is now feeding the current creative bloom. "A Good Day to Die" (working title) is coming alive. Maybe it's just me but there is a process in every project that just feels like something nebulous and inanimate becoming a sentient, independent, living entity. I can literally feel what the film wants to be and am charged with bringing it to life. So little to do do so much time...no, wait, reverse that. Thank you.

I really enjoyed being the Guest on "The New Normal" this week. Laryngitis finally won out. Still enjoyed discussing Hypnosis for healing purposes.

Looking to get some feedback from some of the sound techs out there. Need to set up a better computer based portable sound studio to improve the quality of voice over and acoustic instrument tracks. Have been using Audacity for mixes and a Windows or LINUX based PC platform. Any recommendations or warnings about any products out there?
