The STARS Foundation is announcing Two FREE Spooktacular Live Orchestra Concerts. The
first is Sunday, October 25th at 7pm at the Avenue Theater in West Plains, MO. The second is
Friday, October 30th at 7pm at the Melba Performing Arts Center in Houston, MO.
This is a family friendly event and while FREE, we do accept donations to continue our
programming and offer more events in the future.
Both of these concerts will be directed by Jodie Forbes. Jodie Forbes has been the SOCO
musical director and conductor since 2017. She has lived in this area for over 40 years & a
music teacher in Cabool, Houston, and Willow Spring. She is currently giving private lessons
for the Stars Foundation and playing in several musical groups during her spare time. Jodie
graduated with honors and a Bachelors of Music in education from the Dana School of Music, a
part of Youngstown State University in Ohio.
The orchestra is composed of musicians from SOCO (Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra)
& from the STARS live orchestra. As we merge in the STARS Foundation family, we’re in the
process of rebranding our name so if you have any suggestions, let us know. You may just see
us as a LIVE Orchestra in the future. We have musicians of all ages and from the surrounding
Ozarks. Our concerts are always fun to attend and will not disappoint our patrons. For
information about STARS and the opportunities available there, please go to their website
below.
Enrollment is now open at the STARS Foundation for the 2026–2027 season, inviting students
of all ages to explore an immersive learning experience. Programs include dance, theatre,
music, visual art, languages, tumbling, Taekwondo, and more, all designed to build confidence,
creativity, and purpose. Visit www.thestarsfoundation.org, call 417-254-3168, or scan the QR

This would be fun to do. 😄 (But I think the musicians in the video must have spent time practicing their "new" instrument in order to sound this good....)

Come out tonight and tomorrow to Houston, MO to hear some of us play pit in the Annie production. We already have one night finished despite the heavy rains. The play is amazing and the pit orchestra sounds great. Seats near us are special pricing too. 😁
