Shop Local and Support Good Neighbors Theatre!

Did you know that Good Neighbors Theatre now has a booth at The Pig Pen? 504 W Main St.

We'd love for you to stop by and take a look! Every item purchased from the GNT booth directly benefits Good Neighbors Theatre, with 100% of the proceeds going back into our programs, productions, and community events.

While you're there, be sure to explore all the other wonderful booths as well. Shopping local helps support small businesses, local families, and our entire community. It's neighbors supporting neighbors—and that's something we can all get behind.

We're also grateful that The Pig Pen is a sponsor of Good Neighbors Theatre. Their support helps us continue bringing arts and entertainment opportunities to Pickett County.

And one more thing—if you have clean, usable items around your home that you no longer need, consider donating them to GNT. We'll happily sell them in our booth, and every dollar earned helps support the theatre's mission of providing quality artistic experiences right here in our community.

Small Town. Big Talent. And a community that supports one another.

Good Neighbors Theatre is excited to announce that tickets for The Carol Burnett Show will go on sale Tuesday, May 26.
This fun-filled variety sketch comedy production features classic comedy sketches inspired by the original television show that made audiences laugh for generations. From silly characters to over-the-top moments, audiences can expect a night of laughter and familiar comedy favorites brought to life by local talent.
Performances will be held:
• Thursday, June 25 at 7 PM
• Friday, June 26 at 7 PM
• Saturday, June 27 at 2 PM
• Sunday, June 28 at 2 PM
Tickets are available at the Pickett County Welcome Center. We do recommend getting them early if you can—seats tend to fill up quickly. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets are non-refundable, but may be exchanged prior to the performance for a $5 exchange fee.

In connection with the production, GNT is also hosting an “Go for the Comedy Gold” fundraiser. Community members are invited to donate unwanted or broken gold jewelry they no longer wear. The gold will be converted into funds to support future productions, youth programs, and critical repairs to the theatre. Donations may be dropped off at the theatre during upcoming performances. We’re proud to keep bringing live theatre right here to our town, and we sure do appreciate the support from folks near and far.
Looking ahead, GNT will hold auditions for its summer production, Steel Magnolias, on Saturday, June 6th at 5:00PM. Adult women of all experience levels are encouraged to audition. Whether you’ve been on stage before or have always wanted to try community theatre, this is a great opportunity to get involved.
Those auditioning will be asked to read scenes from the script. No preparation is required. Performance dates for Steel Magnolias are October 22–25, 2026.

We wanted to share these words from director Melva Nunnery about tonight's showing of our 2014 production of The Sound of Music.

"Tonight, you will see the efforts of a very talented group of people who lived right here in our community. They spent countless hours memorizing lines, learning songs and dances, and rehearsing over and over again. These are the people you see in front of the lights, bringing the production to life.
But there are many others you do not see who are just as important.
First, I want to recognize Kathy Hicks, who used her incredible talent to turn our electronic piano into a full orchestra. She accompanied our singers and dancers, taught music, and spent many hours in rehearsal with us.
I also want to recognize everyone who worked on the sets, especially Tonya Marcum, who used her artistic talent to paint the beautiful mountain backdrop. And to everyone who painted fleur-de-lis — and I do mean everyone — thank you. We painted so many fleur-de-lis that I don’t think any of us ever wanted to see another one again.
I want to thank those who worked backstage, making sure props were in place and sets were moved, especially Ron Bledsoe and Jeff Neeley, who helped move that giant window. It just about killed them, and I’m pretty sure they wanted to kill me.
Costuming was truly a community effort. We borrowed the nuns’ outfits and some of the children’s costumes from Cumberland County Playhouse, and many of the period costumes came from Great River Players of Lee County, Iowa, where I first got my start in community theatre. I especially want to recognize my sister, Doris Mullins, who made the children’s costumes that were created from the curtains in the show.
I also want to thank everyone who helped with makeup, costume changes, and keeping the children occupied when they were not on stage. And of course, we cannot forget the people out front selling tickets and concessions and managing the front of house.
As has been said before, it truly takes a community of Good Neighbors to bring these productions to life."
