The purpose of the Byhalia Area Arts Council is to support and enhance cultural arts opportunities for all residents of Marshall County.

Auditions are finally here for Ghost: The Musical! Secure your spot on stage & sign up now!

Show dates: October 22-25th 2026
Ages: 15 and up

2 DIFFERENT AUDITION DATES & TIMES:
Option 1: August 4th
Option 2: August 6th
Time: Starting at 6:30 pm
Location: Hernando Performing Arts Center

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare a 32 bar (1-1 1/2 minute) vocal selection in the style of the show or from the show.

DANCE CALL:
There will be a dance call Saturday, August 8th at 3pm by invitation only at the HPAC.

CALLBACKS:
Callbacks will be held on Saturday, August 8th beginning at 5:30 pm by invitation only at the HPAC.

VIRTUAL AUDITIONS:
If you are unable to make it to the in person audition options, we will be taking online submissions. All virtual auditions should be submitted by August 6th at 5pm. You may send your submission to [email protected]

Make Your Own Greeting Cards will have 2 sessions, morning and afternoon.

Acrylic Painting will be a morning only class.

Super Saturday is Back! August 8 & 29at the Old High School in Byhalia. Classes for arts and crafts. Beat the heat! Sponsored by the Byhalia Area Arts Council (BAAC).

August 8
Nancy Austria-Adams - Greeting Card Class

Class Description: Each student will make five unique greeting cards with varying sentiments and colors.
Class Size: Maximum of 7 students.
Price: $45 per student.
Class Times: Nancy is offering a morning session from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and an afternoon session from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Instructor Bio:
“Nancy Austria-Adams has been creating and sending handcrafted cards for over 20 years. In this class, you will create five unique cards to have ready for a loved one. Homemade cards—because no one puts an email on the mantel or a text message on the refrigerator.”

Acrylic Painting with Patrick McGee

- learn to paint a chicken on canvas using. acrylic paints.
- Beginner to intermediate, ages 14 and up.
- Class Size: Maximum of 10 students.
- Date/Time: August 8, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Supplies: I will provide all necessary materials - Price: $50 per student

Patrick McGee was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and is a life long artist and musician. Paint a chicken in acrylics in this fun class. Learn how to lay out a composition and create a painting using simple acrylic techniques.

Patrick currently lives in beautiful Byhalia, MS with his poet wife, their black cat and is quietly mastering the fine art of BBQ tacos.

Hand embroidery with Michelle Forsythe

In this introductory class, girls, ages 8 - 12, will learn six stitches as they complete a "Hello Cupcake" sampler 10 spot.

Date/Time: August 29, 10am - noon.

Price: $30 per student, supplies included.

Michelle Forsythe

Born and Raised in Indianapolis, Michelle got to Byhalia as soon as she could! She has a BS in journalism and political science from Ball State University. Employed by FedEx for 25+ years, Michelle serves as a project manager on the sales proposal team. In her spare time she passionately pursues hand embroidery, photography, lettering, dunking, yoga, camping, and traveling. After teaching mixed media at the BAAC Youth Camp for the Arts in 2026, Michelle became a BAAC board member. She wants help others fearlessly unleash their creativity.
