It’s been three weeks since we opened our [not-yet-existing] doors to friends, family, neighbors, and the greater public for a peek into what we’ve been toiling away on back here in the woods of Byfield.

It was a weekend to share, connect, and celebrate. Many of you may remember the bonfires we used to host on this very site, typically in late April or early May, to commemorate the anniversary of purchasing the land that is now becoming Splitrock Studios. Now, six years later, the property looks a whole lot different.

It’s been a long journey, and we’re still a ways from the end, but momentum has finally built up and it feels like we’re getting closer every day — because for the first time in a long time, we actually are.

As tough as the past few years have been, seeing the community show up with such excitement, positivity and support in this very real, tangible way felt incredible. The whole ethos of Splitrock Studios is about connecting with our fellow humans and sharing creative experiences, so to see a slice of that — to have people actually walking through the halls — was surreal.

The progress keeps chugging along, and we’re looking forward to inviting even more people into our doors very soon. Maybe at that point we’ll even have literal doors in place!

Only Good Things.

I keep hearing that things take time.

It’s hard to be ok with that statement when time costs so much, mostly being monetarily.

I picked up this giant split granite slab from almost 2.5 years ago with a vision of matching our mailbox post and continuing the “split rock” aesthetic of our brand and dream.

Today, it was finally installed (with the help of the amazing TW crew and my operator dad).

It took a long time to go from laying on the ground next to my trailers to upright ready for some address numbers (soon to be designed by and ) I can say the feeling I had standing on it was definitely worth the wait. I’m praying I continue to feel that feeling as all of the other insane things we have been waiting to finally see finally get seen here at

One rock and board at a time.

Only Good Things.
