If Pocasset Rec's Baseball Field looks a little different, that’s because it is! The infield has officially been extended by 10 feet, allowing the field to accommodate 50/70 Intermediate play for Bourne Youth Baseball

This improvement started at our annual meeting with Administration, DPW, Rec, and BYB, where the organization identified the need for a field that could better support this level of play. BYB then brought the request before the Bourne Recreation Committee, which voted to support the upgrade.

From there, Bourne Department of Public Works got to work, completing the field improvements last Friday. A big thank you to the DPW crew for their hard work and for helping make this project happen!

We’re proud to work alongside Bourne Youth Baseball and all of our local youth organizations that provide opportunities for Bourne kids to play, learn, grow, and be part of a team.

Great partnerships lead to great improvements for our community and we can’t wait to see this field in action with fall ball!

Are you looking for a fun way to get active, meet up with friends, and enjoy some friendly competition? Two great programs are kicking off very soon at Bourne Rec!

Backyard Basketball (5th - 8th graders) - Wednesdays, Starting September 9th.
Grab your sneakers and head to our “backyard” for 8 weeks of pickup basketball! New teams are formed each week, with two 16-minute halves, a scoreboard, and Coach Jonathan calling the game. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just love to play, all skill levels are welcome!

Evening Pickleball (18+) - Mondays, Starting September 14th.
Pickleball is back at the Community Center! With 4 courts, rotating play, and plenty of opportunities to get in the game, it’s a great way to stay active and have some fun. Players of all abilities are welcome, just bring your paddle and know the rules, as instruction is not provided. Space is limited to 32 players, so don’t wait!

Fall 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting one at Bourne Recreation!

There’s something for everyone this season! Get creative with Arts & Crafts, stay strong and energized with our Fitness programs, hit the court for Basketball or Pickleball, learn some new moves with Beginner Line Dancing, or let the little ones have fun with our Pre-K Programs.

And we’re not stopping there! Get into the Halloween spirit with Trunk or Treat and our Halloween Costume Swap, and keep an eye out for more fun on the way!

Whether you’re looking to get active, try something new, get creative, or simply have some fun, Bourne Recreation has your fall covered!

🛟☀️A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING LIFEGUARDS! ☀️🛟

And just like that, 7 weeks of beach guarding have flown by!
We want to give a BIG shoutout to our incredible lifeguards who made this summer at Monument Beach such a success! From greeting patrons to keeping everyone safe and jumping into action when needed, they truly did it all.

They bandaged fingers, patched up toes, answered questions, kept a watchful eye on the water, and somehow managed to do it all with a smile!

Being a lifeguard is about so much more than watching the water. It’s about responsibility, teamwork, kindness, and being there for our community. Our crew showed all of that and more every single day.

Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and for helping make our beach a safe, welcoming, and FUN place to spend the summer!

Note: Swim lessons will continue at Monument Beach for 1 more week and a lifeguard is assigned to oversee the safety of this program.

Lady Canalmen Lacrosse Clinic with Coach Ziehl

Calling all future lacrosse stars in Grades 4–8! Bourne Recreation is thrilled to welcome Coach Samantha Ziehl, Bourne High School's Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach, for an action-packed week of skill-building, teamwork, and fun!

With decades of coaching experience, including championship-winning teams in Bourne and across Cape Cod, Coach Ziehl brings an incredible passion for the game and a proven ability to help players of every skill level grow in confidence and improve their game. Whether you're picking up a stick for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills before the season, this clinic is for you!

Ready to serve up some fun this summer? Join Coach Kassie and members of the Bourne High School Varsity Volleyball Team for an action-packed volleyball camp that's sure to be a smashing good time!

Whether you're just learning the game or looking to ace your skills, this camp will help players improve their passing, setting, serving, hitting, teamwork, and confidence, all while having a blast on the court.

We are pleased to announce that lifeguard coverage at Monument Beach will begin this Saturday, June 20th.

Lifeguards will arrive daily at 10:00 AM to conduct beach inspections, clean the beach, and set the lifeguard stands with safety equipment for the day. Lifeguards will take the stands from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day throughout the season.

As you enjoy Monument Beach this summer, please remember:

☀️A valid Town of Bourne beach sticker is required to park.
☀️Please follow all Town of Bourne beach bylaws.
☀️Observe and adhere to all posted beach rules and lifeguard instructions.
☀️Help us keep our beaches clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
