The How Novel Story Lorry family is not satisfied with providing books at only the markets that we attend. Thanks to a donation from some of our booknerd friends, we have an old newspaper stand that we're converting into another Butte Little Free Library! The death of one form of the written word is what led to this superfluous newspaper stand, but we believe that analog reading will persevere, and we are excited to provide free literature in this antiquated container.

Hi everyone,

Our hearts are heavy after the recent tragedy in town. We’re holding the victims, their families, and our whole community close in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Given the current situation, we’ve decided to cancel this week’s market. We want to be extra cautious as we navigate the days ahead.

The market will continue, but as of right now, our priority is safety and giving our community some space to process and heal. We’ll keep you posted on next week’s plans.

The Story Lorry has a new featured artist!  You know back in the day when you had to smash a blob of wax on your letters so they wouldn’t open?  These are like that,  but pre-smashed! 

(I really hope this artist doesn’t mind that description of her work.)

Not mine. Although the Story Lorry has always tried to incorporate art supplies in its nooks and crannies, and although the Story Lorry proprietor (me) is an art teacher and a big advocate-for/drooler-over art supplies, there's never enough room... books take priority on the shelves of a bookstore. ... a nook ... a cranny So I was excited to meet the person who is in the process of finding an uptown location to open her own brick and mortar bookstore....

Pre-Folk Festival market sure was a blast. I loved all the out-of-town visitors! Talking to them and sharing the Story Lorry's history, as well as hearing their own stories was inspirational. I was told about a fellow mobile bookstore on the other side of the country, and when I went to their website, I am refreshed in knowing someone out there shares my passion and my values....

Funnily enough, was just thinking of something like this... if the Story Lorry could join food vendors more often if we could "serve" books in a more impromptu way.

Figers 🤞 that Anaconda market doesn't get blown away today! The Story Lorry is weighted down (the one time I won't complain about boxes of books being heavy) but I'd sure like to enjoy the company of fellow vendors who aren't anxiously preventing their stock/canopies from being whisked away!
