Hey everyone, Coleton here. I’m keeping everyone in the loop on my health, and what’s going on, and that includes my wonderful clients, of course.

As many of you may know, I’ve been dealing with alot of health problems this past year and a half. The issue is with my throat/layrnx/vocal cords. Initially it was thought to be a more rare type of reflux that hits the vocal system. I had 2 surgical procedures to fix this issue and it has not helped. I’ve become worse.

I have extreme pain 24/7 accompanied by intense vocal fatigue. Many of you who have been around may also notice I sound totally normal, this is so odd, that one of the best voice centers in the country is using me as a study.

Finally, after a year of what feels like hundreds of doctor visits, numerous specialists, multiple surgical procedures, I am hoping that we finally found the issue. The specialist in SLC found a lesion on my left vocal cord. This is not allowing the cords to work freely, which resulted in me developing what’s called Muscle Tension Dysphonia (a voice disorder) as a compensatory result. This is what causes me pain and voice fatigue, as the muscles in and around the larynx are overcompensating in order to still allow me to produce sound.

Their goal is to put me under, remove the lesion, and then go on vocal rest for 7-8 days. No speaking for a week post surgery. So during that time, I’ll not be able to work or answer phones. Surgery is Sept. 21/22. Please feel free to still reach out via email, but I likely won’t be doing anything work related Sept 21-30th. But up until then, business as usual.

I will likely be doing a Saturday flash day to help raise funds for this as well. Unfortunately, this has all been very costly. So if you’d like to help, book some tattoos now or keep your eyes peeled for the flash day.
