🪑✨ WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY at Rocking Chair Quilts! ✨🧵

🎯 TODAY’S FOCUS: Beautiful Binding — Finish Strong!

You’ve pieced it. You’ve quilted it. You’re SO close to being finished... and now there are four corners standing between you and victory. 😂

Binding may be the last step, but it can make a BIG difference in how polished your finished quilt looks!

🧵 5 TIPS FOR BETTER BINDING:

✔️ Cut on the straight grain for most quilts. Save bias binding for curved edges or special projects.

✔️ Join strips diagonally to spread out the bulk instead of stacking seams on top of each other.

✔️ Press your binding in half before attaching it for a crisp, consistent edge.

✔️ Master the mitered corner: Stop ¼" from the corner, fold up at a 45° angle, then fold back down and continue.

✔️ Hide that final join! Connect your beginning and ending tails diagonally for a smooth, nearly invisible finish.

✨ BONUS TIP: Don't pull your binding too tightly as you sew. A little too much tugging can make the edges of your quilt curl or wave.

And remember…

🏁 Binding isn't the annoying part at the end. It's the FINISH LINE! 🙌

🧵☕ SUNDAY STITCHES: FABRIC GOSSIP CLUB ☕🧵

Wellllll… apparently the fabric has been talking behind our backs. 👀😂

We left the sewing room unattended for FIVE MINUTES and came back to find out:

🌸 Batik is “seeing other colors.”
😏 Quilting cotton thinks she’s better than everybody.
🫢 Flannel heard somebody’s been WASHED.
💅 Panel fabric is making everything about herself.
😎 The pre-cuts have formed their own little clique.

And then NEW FABRIC walked in…

Suddenly everybody straightened up, stopped talking, and acted like they hadn’t just spent the last hour discussing everybody else's business. 🤣

Meanwhile, the sewist is standing in the middle of all of it thinking:

“Wait… when did I get THIS MUCH FABRIC?!”

Ma’am. That is NOT the issue we're discussing today. 😂

So now we need to know…
