Look closely. There’s more to this striking work than first meets the eye.

Created in China in the 20th century, this beautiful satin-stitched embroidery depicts Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy, alongside Shoulao, God of Longevity. Throughout the piece, meaningful symbols tell their own story: a Manchurian crane represents longevity, a deer symbolizes longevity and prosperity, bats signify happiness and good fortune, and Shoulao holds the peach of immortality. The Maridon Museum

Standing an impressive 5'4" high, the work once belonged to Maridon Museum founder Mary Phillips and now makes its home in the museum’s Side Gallery.

Come see the incredible threadwork and symbolism for yourself. https://bit.ly/4hLXF8P

Perched proudly on its branch since approximately 1904–1924, this remarkable Meissen porcelain hawk was modeled by Paul Walther, a celebrated animal sculptor who began working with the Meissen Manufactory in 1891.

Before making its home at The Maridon Museum, the hawk spent time at Germany’s Bröhan Museum. Today, it keeps watch over its prestigious companions in the Art Nouveau section of our Meissen Gallery.

! Two weeks ago, we celebrated the Harvest Moon at Butler Country Club, and what a night it was.

Elegant tables, a silent auction full of treasures, basket raffles, a seated dinner, heartfelt remarks, and a dance floor that stayed packed until the very end. Scroll through and see if you can spot yourself (or your best dance move).

Thank you to everyone who joined us, bid, donated, volunteered, and danced the night away. Every ticket and every bid supports art, culture, and The Maridon Museum.
