If you have ever dealt with me at Mathews Orchard Hill, you know I really don’t have that many rules. Don’t put anything on the walls and don’t drive or park on the grass are the main ones really. Well, there is that rule about not dragging tables and chairs across The Carriage House floor, but this is really a post about the grass. Lol. Look at the before and after pictures since putting in irrigation. I always tell people it’s hard enough getting grass to grow in this Taylor County sandy soil as it is. It’s come a long way and we are still working on it.

Springtime on The Hill

I had been looking for just the right “something” to put on the wall in “The Elizabeth Room.” I had seen this picture many times in a nearby antique store and passed it up, but kept thinking about it. Recently, I decided to go look at the tag to see the price really, but the oil painting also caught me by surprise that it was named “Elizabeth at the Organ.” Of course, it’s not my Aunt Elizabeth that lived in this house, but the picture represents at least a couple of things that are symbolic of her. The name Elizabeth, of course, and their love of music are the two most obvious similarities at first glance. My Aunt Elizabeth was a music major at Wesleyan College, an accomplished pianist, and also taught music. I’m not sure if she played the organ, but maybe. I think the painting brings even more soul to this room and house, and I love it. Maybe someone knows this Elizabeth in the picture. Anyway, I’m pretty sure she likes her new room and home.
