Whats the plan?

The area for the track is roughly the size of a basket ball court. From drivers stand the back right corner has a natural hill that will be a great feature when mixed with jumps.

Jumps will be wooden construction and portable. Likely covered in astro turf or whatever outdoor carpeting is on sale at Menards.

My back property line is directly connected to the Burtrum Lions park. There is a softball field between me and the playground. The picnic shelter has a porta john.

I'm going to build the track with black sewer pipe and mow the grass as short as I can get it.

Then start driving the cars. At my old house it didn't take long to get the racing line down to dirt.

Have fun racing toy cars.

I'm building this track because there aren't any near me anymore. When I got back into rc cars (fall 2022) there was an excellent facility in St Cloud and I was all in. I bought a RC10b6.4 and started racing carpet several days per week. If I want to go racing now its minimum of 160 miles round trip and Dollar Hobbyz is a 200+ mile day. I haven't been to the Toy Box yet but they switched to carpet now and my 6.4 should work there but thats 200+ miles as well.

This is why central MN needs a track again. I've never been a race director so if you make it here go easy on me.

Dollar Hobbyz onroad race recap 1-4-26.

We were racing our TT02 Porsches in the street touring class. Did some repairs and maintinence saturday night and up and moving out the driveway by 7am.

Things we learned racing this weekend:

CVA shocks are fine for messing around but not good enough for racing IMO. The pre load clips are just not precise enough and they fall off or fly away when you try to remove them.
I have the yeah racing 55mm shocks on my car and Keegan is running the grey CVA shocks from the TT02r kit. I was having a lot of trouble getting Keegan's car low enough and he struggled with traction roll all day.

I have the 55mm shocks on my car and I can get my ride height where I want it but full droop the springs back away from the collars. I am hoping that a set of 50mm shocks on Keegans car will get him low enough like my car but the springs will have more preload and the droop will not loose contact with the collar.
Basicly I think its better to crank up the shorter shock to get ride height rather than crank down the longer 55mm shocks to get low enough. I feel that the adjuster should be in the middle of the shock body. Not all the way at the top.

I'm gonna try it anyways.

We got the hobby room set up finally after our move to Burtrum and i have room to add several cars to my garage.

First post about the race track I'm building in my back yard. Plan to use trackmate transponder system. Racing to start in spring 2026.
