Like all people in their distant future, the crew members of the Alacrity belong to castes. People aren't born into a caste, but they also don't have the liberty of choice. As the children grow and develop they are constantly trained and tested under the watchful eye of Control. As their proficiencies and skills become more prominent they are gradually relocated into different training programs until they have found a home within a specific caste. This system ensures that all citizens are both proficient and valuable to the human family.
Diligent and carefully considered delegation leads all individuals to a life of service within their absolute best possible position for their own potential. In hopes that all brothers and sisters rest well knowing that they serve their purpose and are at their optimal condition within the family.
The Security crew of the Alacrity consists of four members, each with their own specific talent. Each trained as a highly proficient unit, they are all capable of working autonomously with great success. However, when they function as a team they are more than equal to any challenge.
The red markings on their shoulders are an indication to others of their position within society. Their duties might—and do--include anything from simple police work to special operations requiring expert precision. Second in the general rankings only to members of the Command caste, they spend much of their time free of the drudgery of monotonous work. Bouncing from one mission to another, they are the least rooted and typically the most apathetic of individuals. Security members typically have seen a number of things beyond the scope of general knowledge and had to develop a solid disconnect from both sides of the turmoil they find themselves within. Low levels of empathy for others and a heavy distrust for the deceptive veil of Control bind together to form dispassionate, yet obedient soldiers. It is often the core members of their personal unit that they bind to, and this alone prevents them from total nihilism.

Security is the tether that holds the family together. Even in a utopia there are those who cannot see the light. It is these usurpers of order and tranquility that upset the balance and threaten all that Control hopes to maintain, everlasting life for humanity. Therefore, it is necessary to have a force of well trained and well armed individuals who are willing to lay down life and limb to protect the sanctity of humanity from those miscreants.
Daily training ensures that they all perform beyond the limits of normal healthy human capability. Constant testing reveals any faults or flaws that may develop within each member of the chain, so that it may be repaired—or removed.
Special squads are formed and spend a lifetime together, to ensure the absolute peek of performance when under duress.
Security has no weaknesses.
Security has never known failure on any mission.
Security cannot fail.
