April of 2026, I found myself in and learned of a fantastic establishment -- more of an institution I might say -- called Esther's Follies. WOW! What a great time -- If you like and then you need to take my word for it and make Esther's a bucket list item for your next visit to Austin.
..I wonder if they'd be willing to come to

Now that summer is on our doorstep, its time to start thinking about a refreshing cocktail.

May we recommend a Hendrick's Gin & Tonic.

"In the hands of HENDRICK'S, this classic becomes a curious composition of crispness and charm - an ode to elegance with a twist of the unexpected."

How to Make It:
Step 1: Gather - 2oz Hendrick's Original, 6oz tonic water, 3 thinly sliced rounds of cucumber
Step 2: Combine all ingredients in a glass filled with ice.
Step 3: Garnish
Step 4: Enjoy

The theatre world just witnessed something fascinating.

After initially announcing that the 2026 Japanese revival of Gypsy would be retitled “Rose” out of concern for the historical use of the word “Gypsy” as a slur toward Roma and Sinti people… producers have now reversed course and restored the original title.

This story opens up a much larger conversation about:
• historical context vs. modern sensitivities
• preserving original artistic works
• cultural translation and localization
• and how performing arts continue evolving in real time

It’s especially interesting considering the show itself is based on the life and stage name of legendary burlesque icon Gypsy Rose Lee.

As an organization deeply connected to live performance, burlesque history, and the arts community, we find conversations like this important — even when they’re complicated.

Art doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
Neither does language.
And theatre has always reflected the cultural conversations of its time.

The Japanese revival of GYPSY will retain its original title when it returns to the stage in 2026, reversing an earlier decision to present the production under the name 'Rose.'

Because of you, the Vermont Burlesque Festival community continues to make a real difference beyond the stage.

Last week, we were honored to present a donation of $1,726 to the University of Vermont Cancer Center following VTBF2026’s Granite City Showcase at the Barre Opera House.

Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, performers, sponsors, and supporters:

🎀 $863 will support breast cancer research happening right here in Vermont.
🎀 $863 will go directly toward patient support funds helping individuals and families currently battling breast cancer.

These patient support funds can help cover everyday but critical needs like rent, groceries, utility bills, transportation, and medical expenses during treatment.

What makes this especially meaningful is that this entire contribution was raised during just one single show — a powerful reminder that art, community, and compassion truly can come together to create positive impact.

From all of us at VTBF — thank you for continuing to believe in what we do and why we do it.

Cheers to community, creativity, and continuing the fight. ❤️
