This week’s warm weather marks the end of the ‘26 skating season. The rink is officially closed, and we’ll transition into clean-up mode.

It was a great season and we hope that everyone was able to get out there and enjoy it. Thanks to everyone who helped make this season possible.

Once the rink has drained and we get another warmer / drier weekend, we’ll try and organize another volunteer day to get everything cleaned up for the Spring.

Stay tuned for those dates, until then if you find any lost pucks, sticks, or shovels, please return them to the warming hut! Any help straightening up the warming hut, or picking up trash in the area would be helpful too. Thanks!

Ice is solid and lights are up (6-10pm nightly)!

Skates, sticks, and pucks in the warming hut. Will try and get the propane tank and heater going this weekend.

Also, sharing a broom ball tournament invite from one of the neighbors!

Checked on the ice this afternoon, looks solid!✅
Appears some guinea pigs already got out there this weekend.

The corners look a little choppy, so I’ll try and put another layer down one night this week. Also we still need to put the lights up.

Pucks are in the warming hut & the nets are back behind the tennis court if two good samaritans are feeling strong💪

Also: friendly reminder to clear the ice surface if you’re the last to leave. The metal nets + black pucks attract sunlight by day and melt holes in the ice.
That includes shoveling the snow you cut up too, pay it forward please and thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came out to flood the rink this weekend! We had a successful day✅

I didn’t get any pictures while everyone was there, but believe I counted 9+ volunteers at one point. All of which were incredibly helpful!

The forecast looks frigid beginning Friday, so hopefully we’ll have ice by the end of the weekend. Keep an eye on this page where I’ll post once the ice is ready and safe to be skated🌡️🧊⛸️

Reminder: we’ll be meeting at the Calahan park basketball court tomorrow morning at 10:30am to flood the rink. We can use all the help we can get, so please spread the word!

🚨SEEKING VOLUNTEERS🚨 (1/11/26)

We are laying down the tarp & flooding the rink next Sunday 1/11/26. We will need help to first staple the tarp down, drill in the kickplate, and then flood the rink.

We will meet at 10:30am (1/11/26) for any who can make it. If you have a staple gun or a drill please bring it with you. If you don’t have either, we can still use the extra hands!

If you think you can make it, please let me know! We will need a few more volunteers (6-8) this time to wrestle the tarp in the wind!

Thanks to everyone who came out this morning to help assemble the boards! Wouldn’t have happened without them💪

Next step will be to lay down the tarp and flood. We’ll keep an eye on the weather, likely should wait until after the forecasted rainfall next week…

Hopefully around the new year we can organize another volunteer group (8-10 people) to help lay the tarp and flood.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS - SUNDAY, 12/14

Hope everyone is getting excited for the Winter ‘26 pond szn!

We’re gearing up for what looks like another awesome season. We’ve already take inventory and appears we have everything necessary to get the ball rolling - all we need is the man power / volunteers to make it happen.

The first step will be to assemble the boards, so we are planning on an assembly day this Sunday, 12/14/25 at 10:30am.

We will need a crew of 3-5 volunteers to help shovel the basketball court and then screw the boards together (1-2hr). I will be there with my drill. Any other volunteers that can bring a drill would be immensely helpful.

Who else can we count on? Please comment / reach out if you’re able to help, want to get involved, or can share across your community - it takes a village!

PS - we’re always taking donations and will need to fund next year’s tarp / anticipatory repairs. Thanks!

Belated post here: great close to the season folks! We didn’t end up needing to organize a community cleanup this March, the lovely crew at Burlington parks dept. took care of the rink and moved the warming hut!👏💪👷‍♂️👏

The warming hut got a thorough spring cleaning, and we recovered most of the pucks. If you find any stragglers in the soccer field or along the tennis court, please drop them by the warming hut.

Thanks to everyone for making this winter such a success! We hope everyone was able to get out there and enjoy it - until next year!

With warmer days/rain in the 10-day forecast, it’s looking like the close of our ‘25 skating season. It was a great stretch while it lasted and hope everyone was able to get out and make the most of it!

Now to set our sights on clean-up and next season! As the ice continues to melt, we hope to drain the rink and disassemble everything towards the end of the month. Keep an eye out for our next post in the coming weeks as we organize another volunteer day to take everything apart.

We hope to get fundraising organized in the off-season to begin collecting donations for next year’s rink. More updates to follow - Thank you all for your continued support!

⛸️Outdoor ice skating update for Friday, 2/28/25

‼️All outdoor rinks and skating areas are now CLOSED FOR THE SEASON ‼️

The Sea Caves ice skating at Arthur Park is finished for the season. Thanks for all who participated in this season! And thank you to the Conservation Team for their steady management of Arthur Park!

All other Parks’ rinks are also closed for the season. Thank you to the Grounds Team for their constant work and support of these great neighborhood rinks!

With the rain yesterday and warmer temps these last few days, both rinks at Calahan Park are CLOSED.

As the snow recedes, it’s a great time to search for pucks! We started the season with a bucket full (40+), I’m sure they’re buried in the snow.

Things were pretty slushy out there today. Hopefully Mother Nature can squeak out one last stretch of cold days for a refreeze. Until then, we’ll keep you posted!
