This weekend at Center for Arts and Learning, join us for 24 Hour Comics Day! 24-Hour Comics Day is an annual international celebration of comics creation. On this day, creative folks take on the 24 hour comics challenge: to create a 24 page comic book story, normally months worth of work, in 24 straight hours.

FEAR NOT: If this challenge sounds too intimidating, you're welcome to hang out for as long as you'd like and spend the time working on any comics project rattling around in your head

Part-Time Fanboy Podcast: Ep 460 Barney Smith’s Clever Linguistics Bring Dadder Jokes To Kickstarter!

https://parttimefanboy.com/part-time-fanboy-podcast-ep-460-barney-smiths-clever-linguistics-bring-dadder-jokes-to-kickstarter/

Barney Smith is a cartoonist and writer who decided to bring a little humor into the world when it became a much darker place in 2020. While most people were arguing over politics and whether or not to wear facemasks, Barney decided he would post one joke a day on his social media feed. Over time he had cultivated and created enough jokes that he brought them together into a book called Dad Jokes. As time went on it turned out he had enough fun puns and silly witticisms to make a sequel: Dadder Jokes…which is currently funding on Kickstarter. This week Kristian chats with Barney about what inspired him to pull together his collection of laughable language, why humor doesn’t have to be disparaging towards other people, what makes a good “Dad Joke”, and the evolution of the father figure over time in the pop culture landscape!

Part-Time Fanboy. Full-Time Obsession on a Part-Time schedule.

The Kickstarter for the collected El Viaje Mas Caro English Edition ends today! They're only $400 away from their stretch goal to begin work on the Spanish translation collection! These comics were created in collaboration with The Vermont Folklife Center and Open Door Clinic. Please consider supporting them!

"THE MOST COSTLY JOURNEY (EL VIAJE MÁS CARO)" is a non-fiction comics anthology of stories told by migrant Latin American farmworkers in Vermont (USA), & drawn in collaboration with cartoonists in New England (& elsewhere).

This English language edition will enable us to share these stories with a wider audience, beyond our original readership in the Vermont migrant farmworker community. These are the human stories that underlie the entire US economy & food production system, & touch upon communities in many countries....

We've been distributing these stories as mini-comic booklets (in Spanish) within Vermont's migrant community for years. They provide a way for storytellers to process stress & trauma, and they help readers feel less alone & connect with vital healthcare resources."

Stories of immigration & survival, told by migrant farmworkers & drawn by cartoonists.
