The day has finally come for Remediation. Its been almost 3 years since I purchased this Brownfield Site in the Old North End. I remember in the late 90’s walking through the parking lot and admiring those rainbow iridescent puddles after the rain. It felt so wrong knowing it was nasty chemicals creating such beauty .. the acid probably assisted , but i digress? Its been a 2 1/2 year administrative nightmare first convincing the state of Vermont and being rewarded with a 250K grant, then discovering it’s a reimbursement grant so i had to raise the money to access the money. Then getting a loan from the Franklin County Regional Panning Commission . (Gratitude to Greta 🙏🏻) and working endlessly with Stone Environmental (gratitude to Anne Marie and mostly grateful to Katrina who stuck with me through the whole process) to finally ”break Ground” and transform this neglected waste site into a new kind of Iridescent puddle that the children can play in without a chemical bath and hopefully we can bring more heart to our diverse neighborhood.
