So you might have heard by now, that yes, the LARP department for Kublacon is moving to a new hotel and will no longer be in the main Hyatt hotel. There were several reasons for this. Mostly, it was a space issue, and LARPs now has much nicer dedicated space. Nearly 7000 square feet of it!
The new hotel is the SF Airport Marriott about a mile or so down the street from the Hyatt. Room rates will be about $10 cheaper than the Hyatt. This will be the only official Kublacon overflow hotel. Kublacon will not be in the Crowne Plaza this year, nor the Holiday Inn. Additionally some miniature tournaments and other over flow events will be hosted over in the Marriott as well, just in their own spaces.
There is a shuttle between the two hotels. It is provided by the hotels and not Kublacon. It is the airport shuttle so one way it does stop by the nearby airport. I need to double check, but I understand that it runs every 15 minutes during the day, and every 30 minutes after midnight. I’ve heard a rumor about an app too that tracks where it is, but need to find out more details.
There will be registration available over at the Marriott. I am not sure though of the hours.
The ACE LARP will be in the Junior Ballroom. A nearly 4000 square foot space. It also has in front of it pre-function entertainment space before you get outside. All of this will be available to the Vampire LARPs. It has nearby bathrooms, and is not that far from the bar.
LARP space for the non ACE events will be Salon A through D. These are four 640 ballrooms that can be configured as 1, 2, 3, or 4 spaces do to the dividing walls. Those walls will change over the course of the weekend depending on the needs of the LARPs scheduled in those room, as well as the size and number of LARPs happening within them.
Kublacon is encouraging attendees that if you plan on spending most of our time over at the Marriott, that you book a hotel room there. Hotel rooms will become available on Monday. A link will be up then. The rate is not available until Monday, so calling won’t help until Monday.
This move is good for the LARP program. It gives us dedicated better space that is just for us!
