An Open Mic for Vocalists & Writers Alike

Covers Night Open Mic was conceived at the reception desk of The Songwriting School by Barbara Jenice & Ingrid Schnell in the Summer of 2018. By October, they hosted the first monthly event - an open stage for expressive art using cover songs as a vehicle. Paired with expert feedback from vocal instructors and performance coaches of the School, it has become as nearly popular as the Fourth Fridays Originals Open Mic.

Ingrid has featured as expert instructor twice, joined by Joy Graysen, Nikhil Korula & Ryan Gaughan.

Hosts are often asked “is it ok to play my original?” The answer is always yes - after all, cover songs always start as someone’s original! As songwriters, many of us hope that one day our songs are loved enough to be covered by an amazing artist one day.
