We’re between painting trips here in France, getting ready to welcome our final groups of the season and making plans for next year.

A little peek at 2027: a new art cruise on the River Oise, painting and exploring the landscapes that inspired the Impressionists. Plus, retreats in Fontainebleau and the Cîte d’Azur countryside.

Did you know the woman behind the Mona Lisa was named Lisa Gherardini?

She was the wife of a Florentine silk merchant, and Leonardo da Vinci began her portrait around 1503.

For centuries, her identity was debated. Then, in 2005, a handwritten note dated October 1503 was discovered in the margin of a book, helping confirm that Leonardo had been painting Lisa.

A small note with a remarkable connection to one of the world’s most recognizable faces.
