Louisiana Corn Festival

Louisiana Corn Festival The festival was started by the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce in 1987 to promote Bunkie, LA. A must-do This festival has something for all ages.

The Louisiana Corn Festival was given to honor the impact that agriculture has on our economy and a Corn Farmer is honored each year. Opening ceremonies are Friday at 5pm and at that time the large carnival, food booths and arts and craft booths are open for business! There are live bands each night with a street dance, games, contests, corn cooking contest, children's parade, corn shucking contes

t and corn eating contest! There is also a tennis and softball tournament. The family friendly atmosphere makes the Louisiana Corn Festival a must do for people looking for a fun weekend! All proceeds of the festival are put back into the festival, its grounds and projects throughout the city. So follow the rows of corn down to Bunkie, where you are sure to have a corn shucking good time!!

We’re thankful for the support and benefits of agriculture in Bunkie, Avoyelles parish and our state!

BUNKIE, La. (RFD News) — The Louisiana Corn Festival celebrated the state's corn industry despite a growing season marked by late spring freezes, hailstorms and excessive rainfall across central and north Louisiana.

🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽We would like to recognize the 2026 Corn Farmer of the Year - Mr. James Newton!

James is originally from Bunkie and is a 3rd generational farmer. We are so grateful to your dedication and contribution to Bunkie and the agricultural community! James resides in Bunkie with his wife, Rebecca, and their two sons, Nathan and John Marvin.

(PS - Nathan Newton - our junior farmer - he was a tad upset that dad got picked and not him. Nathan is still wearing his “farmer’s medal” today!) 🌽
