AN EVENING OF BLUEGRASS
Friday, February 10
This is a bonus free bluegrass concert sponsored by the City of Bullhead City and held in conjunction with the Colorado River Bluegrass Festival (see page 18). It is also a fundraiser in that donations will be accepted at the door with 100% of the proceeds going to support local Veterans programs (NAVRC and Tri-State Military Moms); sound provided by Bruce Speakman.
The concert will feature the following bluegrass bands:
•SALT & LIGHT—this band out of North Carolina actually has the longer name of Salt and Light the Moore Family Band which reflects the familial connection. It is an all sibling band from a family of ten, ages 10-21. They have won more than their share of festival competitions, mostly in North Carolina. Their harmonies are particularly effective, which is a bonus of them being siblings. They call their music “High Energy Grass” and have two albums out: Salt and Light: The Moore Family Band and Salt and Light: Second Course; for more go to saltandlightbluegrass.com
•SIDELINE— This is another North Carolina based band featuring some of the best at what they do. STEVE DILLING (banjo) is the emcee/comedian of the group who earned his stripes by playing 20 plus years with Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out. JASON MOORE (bass) played with James King in the ’90s where he appeared on the award winning “Bed By The Window” release; he has been on three Grammy nominated projects and was nominated for “Bass Player of the Year” twice. The name SKIP CHERRYHOLMES (mandolin) may be familiar to those who attended some of the first Colorado Bluegrass Festivals when he appeared with his mother, father and siblings in the Cherryholmes Family, regulars at those festivals. That group won the 2005 IBMA Entertainer of the Year Award were nominated for five Grammys. NATHAN ALDRIGE (fiddle) is only 17 but has been playing fiddle since the age of two. BRAD HUDSON (banjo/dobro) has played with The Larkins, The Gaithers, even Dolly Parton. TROY BOONE (guitar) has studied guitar, mandolin, banjo at East Tennessee State University. Sideline’s latest release is Colors & Crossroads; for more go to sidelinebg.com
