Writing a social media post for this past Saturday doesn’t do the day justice. I am beyond grateful for the incredible people who came together to make Broken World - Buffalo Su***de Prevention Event possible.
We had hundreds of people come out to help raise funds for Devin Waring Foundation Inc. and awareness for mental health resources. The Western New York community came together to support su***de prevention this weekend.
Firstly, I want to thank our sponsors of the event:
- WNY Psychiatry & Counseling Associates - Theresa Totaro & Vincent Croglio
- Trusted Gives
- Mental Health Association in Niagara County, Inc. - Colpoys
Next, I have to thank my band, Call Me Disaster, for putting up with my endless messages about the event and planning. Liv, Brandon Mariotti, and Ryan Thomas put in so much work to crush a set and bring people to the show. Our friend, Ryan Weatherbee “Bee” quickly stepped in to play bass with us, and learned the set in a weekend and was ready to jam in three weeks.
Eight other incredible bands came together:
- Spud Browning
- Romcom Victims
- Expert Witness
- Sevagoth
- Duskhaven
- Silver Proof
- Socialite
- Heart for Sale
This year, I worked to bring more nonprofit resources to the event to help bring awareness to the amazing work they’re doing right here in the Buffalo:
- The Devin Waring Foundation Inc.
- Crisis Services (of Erie County)
- Buffalo Urban League
- Erie County Anti-Stigma Coalition
- Mental Health Association in Niagara County, Inc.
- BeeH.Y.V.E. Wellness INC.
Our volunteers helped make the day run smoothly and I can’t thank them enough for their help:
Bill Andrews, Mike Wagner, Buffalo Urban League, Maria Lapetina, Ava Casell-Lapetina, April Noel, Joseph Nowak, Kaitlin Chapman, Meichle Latham Lcswr, Kevin Re LoVullo, Yassin Abdikadir, & more!
Buffalo Iron Works and their staff took care of so much for us this weekend. They also helped make things easy.
Last but not least, thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, donated, or shared the event. You helped play a role in making the day a success. Thank you for supporting mental health.
You Matter. 💙
