Founded in 1862, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (formerly the Albright-Knox Art Gallery) is the sixth-oldest public art institution in the United States. For more than 160 years, the Buffalo AKG has collected, conserved, and exhibited the art of its time, often working directly with living artists. This tradition has given rise to one of the world’s most extraordinary collections of modern and contemporary art.

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! The museum is open today, and we hope you'll join us for a free, exciting Drop-In Artmaking session led by guest artist Terrylee Williams from 11 am to 1 pm in the Wilson Town Square. Terrylee Williams is an enrolled Seneca of the Snipe Clan and resides on the Cattaraugus Territory. She will teach traditional techniques to shape natural corn husks into handcrafted flowers to take home.

OPENING SOON: How do we define home? "The Light in the Window" demonstrates the diverse ways contemporary artists engage with the topic of home. While some artists embody traditional notions of the subject, others engage with narratives of isolation, unease, and displacement. From Donna Dennis's sculptural evocations of childhood family road trips to Do Ho Suh's immersive explorations of memory and migration, the artists in this exhibition remind us that home is not always where we lay our heads.

Gaëni:yo’s NPO Inc. is a Native American Cultural Outreach Organization from the Seneca Nation’s Cattaraugus Territory, specializing in traditional Song, Dance, Integrated Media, and Cultural Apparel. Together, we'll celebrate culture, community, education, music, dance, storytelling, and the continued preservation and representation of Haudenosaunee traditions through activations throughout campus.

OPENING SOON: "Alex Da Corte: The Party" is the world premiere of a major new video installation by celebrated conceptual artist Alex Da Corte (American, born 1980). A feature-length, stop-motion animated opera six years in the making, "The Party" stands among the most ambitious projects of Da Corte’s career. In this work, Da Corte reimagines Marisol’s iconic 1965–66 multi-figure installation "The Party" as an opera, in which the characters stand in for his own Venezuelan aunts and other family members.
