It’s not often that we get a chance to participate in collaborative art events between creative locations that span the city. But that’s exactly what’s happening on Saturday, October 24, from 7:00pm to 12:00am, when Revolution Gallery and Lounge joins together with The Labyrinth Workshop and Indigo Chapel for the event Surreal Soirée. In advance of Halloween, the three creative entities will pay tribute to events that date back from the 1940s, when guests to avant-garde establishments would “dress as their nightmares,” while viewing provoking surrealist art.

SURREAL SOIRÉE - meet one of Revolution Gallery’s event collaborators! Labyrinth Workshop!

For the last few years, Revolution Gallery wanted to have a Surreal Soirée come to life. To create a sensory, dreamy, beautifully weird experience for and with our guests. But we always felt it was bigger than us, and we wanted to have collaborators who believe creativity is best when it is shared with others.

“We want to nurture a space that invites awe, honors mystery, and rekindles our creative nature” is a quote to live by and it comes from Labyrinth Workshop. A gorgeous space on Allen that encourages “immersive experiences that blend artistry, play, and purpose…” We believe in their vision, and we knew we had found one of our collaborators. The owners – Bethany and Cameron – celebrate art, seek the extraordinary, and embrace the beauty of being unhinged.

Revolution Gallery is absolutely thrilled to connect with such a special venue. Labyrinth Workshop is an adventurous environment, curates cocktails that focus on the deliciously unusual, and have designed a wonderfully imaginative activity in their space for the Surreal Soirée.

Saturday • October 24th • 7:00pm to midnight • Transportation shuttle between venues • $10.for a wristband • 21+ (with valid ID - pics of IDs on phones are not accepted)

Revolution Gallery and Lounge has been in business for almost ten years. We are thrilled on providing a creative, fun, and safe space for patrons. We attract a type of guest who is community focused in that they are happy to enjoy our unique and unusual place with us and others. They’re respectful to us, our art, our space, other guests, and are there to appreciate the artwork or event - and that is incredibly special.

We also have our eyes open to what is happening in 2026. If you’re a guest at Rev, and you need our assistance or attention, please order an Angel Shot at our little bar.

What is an Angel Shot?

When a guest requests an Angel Shot, they don’t want a drink; they’re letting you know they are uncomfortable around a fellow guest and need help. The level of help is categorized in the type of shot they order.

* Angel Shot Straight Up/Neat is code for, “I need an es**rt to my car.”
* Angel Shot on Ice/on the Rocks is code for, “Please call a taxi/Uber/Lyft for me.”
* Angel Shot with a Twist/Lemon/Lime is code for, “I am in immediate danger. Please call the police.”

When our crew is working, they do not drink alcohol. They’re focused, helpful, and listen. Please don’t hesitate to approach them. We have men and women working with us so reach out to who you feel most comfortable with.

Revolution will continue to support our guests and community - you are all the reason we are here. We value you, we value that you enjoy your unique experience here, and we value your safety.

We see you, and we thank you.

love,
Maria and Craig

THIS FRIDAY!

September 25th, 5:00pm to 8:00pm. SCENES FROM A BRIGHTER UNDERWORLD: Two solo shows by CHRISTY FRANCIS and NUGMOOSE.

Meet both artists at the opening reception!

An exhibit of lovely and strange beings, navigating their way through ancient and modern environments, and unsettling situations.

With DJ Cainite spinning ethereal / neoclassic / triphop during the opening reception.

About the artists –
Christy Francis is multidisciplinary teaching artist, painter, and photographer. In 2025, Christy founded Howling Woman Studio in the arts and crafts hub of East Aurora, NY. As a pop surrealist artist, Christy explores themes of womanhood and girlhood, in all its dimensions. Her pieces center on female figures, symbols, and vibrant whimsical landscapes that tell stories of the depths of the inner world. Christy is an artist at the Hunt Gallery Residencies, has collectors in WNY and beyond, and has exhibited locally, nationally, and an anticipated show in Portugal. She has participated at several group shows here at Revolution, and we are excited to exhibit a collection of her new work for this solo show!

Nugmoose is a freelance illustrator and street artist who recently made the move from the UK (Bristol) to Buffalo, NY. Nugmoose is a pop surrealist artist who combines themes of sci-fi, mythology, and human life into dynamic poster style pieces. These are punctuated with what the artist calls “alien hieroglyphics” – custom created letterforms and typographic systems that feel familiar, yet remain unreadable; as if they originate from off-world cultures.

Nugmoose’s influences draw from 1960s psychedelic poster design and the ornamental qualities of Art Nouveau, particularly its use of curvature, rhythm, and decorative framing.

Revolution welcomes Nugmoose to our gallery, and are thrilled to have their artwork in this mini solo show!

A preview of the work will be made available on Friday, September 18th.

Artist Cheri Vogelbaum of shared with us her dreamy jeweled mask she is making to wear that artistic evening.

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s personal creativity for this magical evening!

The happiest place…

Our fifth year in the Pride Parade was the most memorable. To gather with one another bc love is love, to have one of us on the float wear a shirt saying FREE MOM HUGS - and give those to anyone who asked, to have the support of these dearest friends and to celebrate with them was something special

Thank you, to all of you who spent the day dancing, waving rainbows, and joining together… We see you 🌈🥰🖤

Thank you to our wonderful crew - Phil, Merrick, Mikayla, Piper, Joe, and Brian who did their part so we could get the float ready by Sunday 🖤💕🥰

Happiest Pride from all of us at Revolution Gallery and Lounge

CALL FOR WORK!

In honor of Pride, Revolution Gallery would like to spotlight our q***r artists in a pop up exhibit, Born This Way.

Since Pride Month tends to be spent celebrating, we will be curating this show during the month of June, but exhibiting in the month of July.

This curated exhibit will be an open theme, encouraging artists to submit works that represent their signature style, open to both artists who have previously exhibited with us and artists new to the gallery.
At Revolution Gallery, q***r creatives are not only a part of our community, but a vital part of all we do here. From the art, to music, to nightlife events, q***r Buffalo is an integral part of who we are as a cultural venue.

We are proud to be a safe and supportive space for the LGBTQ+ community, and we send a huge thank you to our q***r artists, patrons, and community members for all of your contributions to our gallery.
