October 29th was the launch of public health event The Food Justice Tour. This tour is about holistically connecting with the community in providing resources that are in alignment to Social Determinants of Health. Through collaboration with food pantry Feed Buffalo , arts & cultural nonprofit Raft Detroit and public health nonprofit Core2Globe. We were able to provide the eastside Buffalo community:
-Free access to fresh produce.
-Workforce development opportunities
-Education opportunities
-Social supports
- Healthy food taste testing's followed with a community art project.
-Mental health resources
-Access to indoor agricultural opportunities and education
We also brought special guests Dr. Khalid El-Hakim who brought his award-winning African American History Mobile Museum which included over 7,000 artifacts and memorabilia dating from the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade to Hip-Hop culture along with Dr. Khalilah Ali, former wife of legendary boxer and humanitarian Muhammad Ali. We would like to thank all of our partnering vendors who believed in this vision and we look forward to working with you all in 2023. See you at the next "tour stop."
