BATS Coronavirus Community Update: March 15, 2020:

————————

Dear members and friends of Buffalo Tango,

We’re all keenly aware of the arrival of the coronavirus in Western New York and, as of earlier today, Erie County.

The board members of the Buffalo Argentine Tango Society spent a good deal of our scheduled meeting time this past Friday addressing these ongoing developments. We concluded at that time that we would take a wait-and-see position with respect to our upcoming events run by BATS. Likewise, decisions about events run by our community instructors and organizers will be left to their own discretion.

Since then, there have been some important developments and as of this morning, Sunday March 15, here is where we stand:

1. Wednesday’s BATS practica is on hold until further notice. Kim and Lydia will announce when practica resumes.

2. The Tango Bootcamp with Adam Cornett, scheduled for March 28 will still take place at this time. We will make a decision as the date approaches whether or not to postpone and reschedule.

3. The Buffalo Tango Marathon, scheduled for April 24-26 remains active at this time. A decision on whether this will continue as scheduled will be announced as the situation develops.

4. Beginner’s/Next Steps classes run separately by Claire & Craig, and Christine Hawrylczak will be addressed by their respective organizers. Please watch their pages for updates in the coming days.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please post them in comments below, in a message to the association, or to the organizers themselves.

I know I speak for everyone when I say that I wish we could continue on as normal. But these are not normal times. I look forward to the day when we can all resume the connection and joy we all feel in one another’s presence and on the dance floors of Western New York.

Until then, wash your hands, stay safe, stay healthy and above all, keep a positive outlook. We will get through this.

Warmly,

Craig,

President emeritus, Treasurer
Buffalo Argentine Tango Society

Given the newly confirmed cases of the Corvid 19 virus in Erie County, we feel the safety of our community should take priority. This has been a difficult decision but we have decided to suspend Wednesday night practica temporarily. If you know someone who is not on Facebook, please let them know so they don't go out unnecessarily.

We will post updates on Facebook as to when Practica will resume.

Hey there! It's Christine. I want to clear up some confusion that I have been hearing about weekend of March 28th.

Adam is returning to teach the bootcamp on Saturday from noon-6pm. It is a beginner bootcamp. So anyone who has never danced tango before, can "Learn tango in an afternoon" If you know of anyone is interested in tango, but who has a hard time with committing to a 6/8 week series, this is the event that you want to share with them!!

But tell them to get on to the website and register! We are limiting it to 20 couples, and I would hate for someone to miss out because everyone tries to register at the last minute!

There will be a milonga that night at Iacono ballroom center. 8pm-midnight.
