When I have the time, I love taking my tracks I produce and run them through this Sony Tape Machine to give them some real vintage Lofi vibes. Of course you can do this with the amazing plug-ins that are out there today, but this is just more fun. The tape machine instantly creates this nice character with little to no work. On the other hand you definitely need to make sure you keep the tape heads clean, fresh tape is always nice, and have to be OK with dealing with some inconsistencies when recording. This is not a high-end tape machine so it definitely occasionally has issues. In fact right after I recorded this, the rewind belt broke haha (fortunately I have extras). I see these tape machines being sold for about $50-$100, definitely worth the money if you enjoy this kind of stuff.

I bought these two Waves Audio plug-ins close to a year ago and never used them much at all. Today I was mixing a track for a client and the actual vocal recording definitely had some issues that I was going to need to fix. The Greg Wells Voicecentric plug-in actually helped clear up some issues with some harsh frequencies and then I use the MannyM TripleD plug-in just to further smooth it out. So to anyone who is struggling to get their vocals to sound better with cheaper mics, you might want to give it a try! -

How long can you guys sit and work on music for? For me I get about eight or nine hours and my ears are shot. I also enjoy starting my day around 9 AM because my ears are super fresh and I typically make better recording and mixing decisions. By 6pm I’m usually done for the day and typically stop til the next day!

Got a day full of mixing on this modified Allen&Heath mixing console. This console has multiple major rolls here at the studio. It routes all of the mic preamp’s, equalizers, compressors, and outboard effects! It also has functionality over the DAW with the analog summing as well as the external inserts, and controls all 40 inputs and 29 outputs going back and forth to the DAW.
