This week on Living American, Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, JoAnn Falletta takes the reins as host and curator during Stravinsky’s birthday week.
She’ll share music from her recent release with the Buffalo Philharmonic, Stravinsky: Fairy Tales, a program that explores the vivid storytelling of Igor Stravinsky, the Russian-born composer who later became a naturalized American citizen. From the sparkling theatricality of Pulcinella to the luminous Song of the Nightingale, the Tchaikovsky-inspired Fairy’s Kiss, and the rarely heard The Faun and the Shepherdess, Falletta highlights Stravinsky’s world of color, fantasy, and imagination.
