D Company Buffalo City Guard was one of five Companies formed in 1837 for the defense of the newly formed City of Buffalo along with the Niagara Frontier. Formed by all Scots, the Company added the drums and pipes in 1890 and added the name Gordon Highlanders. Today’s Company is a parade organization open to anyone with an interest in highland music and military bearing. The Company consists of in

dividual units that operate together as one organization. The Color Guard leads the way on parade for the Company, carrying flags and rifles, proudly displaying the colors of our Nation, our Company, Scotland and more. The Drums are the beat of the organization, providing the steady, rhythmic sound of a pipe band. Unique in their sound - unmistakable. The drones announce the attack and the chanter haunts you with lingering melodies that can bring your blood to boil or a tear to your eye. We have a place for you in our Company. Whether you are an experienced military service person, prior experience as a piper or drummer, or a raw recruit, we can accommodate you. We provide instruction- at no cost - for all aspects of the organization. Initial expenses for equipment are minimal and when ready to march, most of the uniform is supplied, again, free of charge. If you aspire to play the bagpipes. we will walk you through the process ensuring the proper training and help in securing your pipes. The Gordons offer a blend of military bearing, musical variety and camaraderie that is unique among pipe bands. For more information or to join, please contact:
