"Legacy"

Pencil on paper
11x14
This drawing started out as my heart to see generational blessings being handed down from one generation to another. We have so much we could be gleaning from those who have forged the way before us. A legacy awaits us all if we stop and listen to those who are waiting to hand us wisdom and lessons of the heart.

Stony Ridge Dairy Farm, Bliss, NY

This is Samantha, a dairy cow at Stony Ridge Dairy Farm in Bliss, NY. One day, as she was walking in from the fields, my sister-in-law happened to catch her with a little daisy stuck in her mouth. It was such a sweet and unexpected moment that I knew we had the perfect photo to use as reference for a painting.

Samantha was described as a gentle soul, and that gentle nature really came through in the photograph. She became the inspiration for this piece.

Titled: Gentle Soul, Acrylic 10x10, Wood panel

-This portrait is of my wife as a young woman in her early 30's. I was inspired to capture her independent spirit, confident nature and natural beauty in this candid pose. I used a photographic reference, and I tried to emphasize her blue eyes I made some minor changes in the colors leaning towards a primary & secondary color scheme. The painting is acrylic on board (16" x 20") and I titled it "Susan as a Young Woman".
