he National Association of Black Journalists gave Stephen A. Smith its “Thumbs Down Award,” criticizing what it described as a pattern of commentary involving prominent Black women. Smith fired back, calling it a political and personal hit job.

But our conversation went beyond Stephen A. Smith.

Should a Black journalism organization publicly call out individual Black journalists, or should its biggest fight be with the media companies and newsrooms where Black voices and representation are disappearing?

From Stephen A. Smith to CBS News and local newsrooms, we're asking a bigger question: Are we going after the fish while letting the whales swim away?

Black voters have shown decades of loyalty to the Democratic Party, but is that loyalty being met with the same level of attention and respect?

For many families, the biggest concerns aren’t complicated. Can I afford groceries? Can I pay my car insurance? Can I afford my child’s medication? Can my family have a decent quality of life?

In this conversation, we discuss growing frustration among Black voters, accountability for Black elected leaders, and why decisions made in Washington ultimately reach neighborhoods from Atlanta to Buffalo and communities across the country.

Is political loyalty enough, or should voters be demanding more?

License plate readers can help police solve crimes and find vehicles quickly. But what happens when the people with access to that technology use it for personal reasons?

After officers in Georgia were reportedly caught using license plate reader systems to look up people they knew, we’re talking about the line between public safety and personal privacy.

The technology can be a powerful tool, but access comes with responsibility. When someone abuses that power, should losing their job be enough, or should there be criminal consequences too?

Where do you draw the line between safety and surveillance?

Imagine first responders arriving ready for a full investigation, only to discover the “body” in the luggage isn’t human at all.

We had questions. A LOT of questions. 😂

In this episode of Power to the People, we break down another week of headlines that left plenty of people asking questions.

We discuss the latest developments coming out of Washington, the controversy surrounding ICE “shock gloves,” the conversation around President Trump and the plane story, and the bigger question of how these stories are being reported.

We also take a closer look at media bias, from national networks to local newsrooms, and ask whether we're getting the full story or simply the version someone wants us to see.

Politics, media, perception, and accountability all collide in another real conversation on Power to the People.

How do we inspire the next generation of Black and Brown lawyers, judges, developers, and community investors?

Sometimes it starts with one person seeing something in you before you see it in yourself.

In this conversation, we hear how mentorship helped shape a life and created a responsibility to do the same for the next generation.

Someone invested in you. Who are you investing in?
