A couple of years ago I started using my photos from and doing a little portrait practice for live painting. After all, though we are doing most of the paintings on site as live painters, the portraits themselves are done from photos. Yes, we get the vibes and the feels and it is different than studio work, but the technique is the same…at least to me.
Recently I had a bride inquire and ask me to not push her painting all the way to the typical “finished” stage. Honestly it has been music to my ears because what I love most about live painting is raw edges and well thought out rougher lines. I have no clue if that makes sense. The hardest part of portraits to me is the art of knowing when to stop.
So out comes this portrait of a couple of my faves who actually ended up in …one of my proudest features to date.
I’m practicing the art of stopping this slow season.
I’m not sure who I’ll pick next but get excited, past Common Dove Brides! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
