Snow Potential for Kinston & Eastern North Carolina
Based on National Weather Service guidance

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH for Eastern North Carolina, including Kinston and surrounding communities, due to the increasing potential for a significant winter storm.

Late Friday Night through Sunday Afternoon
January 31 – February 1

🌨 What to Expect
• Heavy snow possible
• Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches
• Strong winds with gusts up to 40–50 mph

📍 Area Affected
• Portions of Eastern North Carolina, including inland and coastal-adjacent communities

🚧 Potential Impacts
• Travel could be very difficult or impossible, especially during periods of heavy snowfall
• Gusty winds may bring down tree limbs, increasing the risk of power outages
