In 1975, Knott's opened the Corkscrew for Employee Night. Yes, we were the guinea pigs. While waiting in line, a train of cars was released. They went around the corkscrew and then approached the loading area. The crowd was wild! One problem... the train did not stop. Up the hill it went again, around the corkscrew and once again approached the loading dock. It did not stop... The passengers started yelling to get them off! Employees pulled the plug with the train about halfway up the hill. Everybody got out and had to walk down the stairs to safety. Fun times!

Trivia #3 - The owner was very 'frugal'. He would tear off the adding machine tape, turn it around and put it back in the machine backwards. BUT..... he then did it again to print on the unused side twice. Each piece of adding machine tape was run through the adding machine four times!

Trivia #2 - The barn on the left housed the ticket booth, the office with a B&W TV, a bathroom and a full shop. We were taught how to arc weld, gas weld, repair brakes, rebuild gas engines.

Trivia #1 - The curved railing behind Mike was installed in 1970 to prevent people from flying down the track and plowing into the barn on the right. Yes, it happened many times. On the right side of the barn is the manual gas pump.... It got hit too.
