The tedious side of the job…

I picked up a bag of what I thought was a bunch of little faux flower bouquets.

As I started to pull those out, I found funky little puffy patches.

Then I noticed the white rings, jingle bells and colorful pacifiers.

Then came the hair clips, pin backings, safety eyes, and miscellaneous hardware.

And finally, I saw there were a bunch of beads at the bottom of the bag. (Plus some tiny nails. Use caution when reaching into bags of who knows what!)

While a mixed bag like this might have been picked up by a super creative adventure hunter excited by the assorted treasures, we can add value to the items by sorting them back out. Each category is more likely to find its next home, rather than stay in the mystery bag for eternity until someone far less curious and patient decides to chuck it into the trash because it looks like a bunch of junk.

September Rummage Sale
Saturday 9/26 12-6pm
In an effort to keep a handle on backstock, we’re planning to have a rummage sale at the end of the month. As someone with very strong opinions on the fear tactics and sense of false urgency from sales marketing, I try really hard to keep prices as low as we can all the time without any hoops to jump through. So there probably won’t be much discounting for the sale. The idea behind the Rummage Sale is more about the rummaging part. We’ll be bringing out boxes and bins of unsorted inventory so this is definitely for those of you who love the treasure hunt aspect of thrifting!
