The 2026 Oscar nominations delivered a historic showing for Black talent across acting, directing, music, and craft categories, with Sinners emerging as a central force. The film earned multiple top-tier nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, as well as acting nods for Michael B. Jordan (Lead Actor), Delroy Lindo (Supporting Actor), and Wunmi Mosaku (Supporting Actress). Behind the scenes, Ruth E. Carter made history with her fifth career nomination for costume design on Sinners, becoming the most Oscar-nominated Black woman ever. Other standout recognition went to Raphael Saadiq for Original Song and Teyana Taylor for Supporting Actress, underscoring a year defined by Black creative excellence at the Academy Awards. I am undone. 💔 Just early this year we lost Angie Stone, and now pancreatic cancer has stolen D’Angelo. He was the genius behind one of my favorite inspirational anthems: U Will Know in 1994, and his 1995 album Brown Sugar I would personally rate one of the ten best albums ever made, with Untitled being both musical genius and the most iconic music video this side of Michael Jackson’s. It literally broke the Internet before breaking the Internet was a thing. It also apparently broke Stone and D’Angelo’s relationship, which is so tragic, and represents the downside of fame. God rest this genius musician and sending deepest condolences to his family, especially his three children including his and Angie Stone’s son. I’m just so sad about this today. IT MUST BE SAID: I saw WICKED over the weekend with some of the amazing sisters of A.K.A. Sorority 🩷💚 and I left the theater with an overflowing heart. What an absolute feast for the eyes, the ears, the spirit, and the heart. The production design is exuberantly beautiful, with astonishing sets and costumes, choreography, hair, and makeup.

Ariana Grande's global pop phenomenon persona blended seamlesly into her role and all you see is Glinda. She proved that she’s not just one of the greatest singers and musicians of her generation, but also an actor of world-class caliber.

Cynthia Erivo ‘s performance is STELLAR!!! It is contained, nuanced, vulnerable, yet also fierce, powerful, and explosive—both incredibly inspiring and deeply heartbreaking. I felt as though she brought all of herself, Black Women, and her ancestors, to the role.

My heart is full. ❤️ Congratulations to the cast and crew of Wicked for a complete and absolute triumph. 💚💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚
