ART26201, with assistance from West Virginia Wesleyan College, will host the 11th Annual YOUNG FILMMAKERS CAMP at LASCAUX Micro-Theater in Buckhannon, West Virginia. The five-day workshop will guide students through writing, shooting, and editing a short film. Led by instructors Andrew Carroll, Jon Benjamin, Will Stout, Jess Johnson, and Bryce O’Loughlin, all students will learn the essentials of sharing a compelling story, screenwriting, videography, and editing while working in a collaborative environment. Additionally, students will be introduced to the vocabulary of filmmaking so that they can communicate about their work with others. At the end of the week, we will hold a screening of student-produced films so students can celebrate their accomplishments with their friends and families.

A tender coming-of-age tale about the loss of innocence in the waning days of WWII: it is the Spring of 1945 on the German island of Amrum, where 12-year-old Nanning spends his days working the farm and his nights fishing. Despite the hardship, life on the windswept isle seems idyllic. When farmer Tessa (Diane Kruger) mentions to Nanning that the war will soon be over, the boy--too young to understand the political implications--is pleased to imagine that his N**i officer father might soon be coming home. But word of Germany's imminent defeat sends his mother into decline, and as Nanning looks to his community for support, he learns that the true enemy is far closer than he imagined.

“For all of us wondering when an ugly time will fade, the moment will resonate like a cautious, dawning hope." – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times

"Can a brainwashed boy in Hi**er Youth learn to stop worrying and love being a N**i hater? Beautifully directed by Turkish-German filmmaker Fatih Akin, this unexpectedly tender mesmerizer has answers you won’t see coming." – Peter Travers, The Travers Take

"Akin has fashioned a rare film that relies on the power of simplicity to tell a story that is anything but simple." – Steve Pond, TheWrap

Some of you may have heard us playing Todd Snider's music over the past few years at LASCAUX. I was working on a project in Nashville, back in 2023, and was fortunate to be given a tour of Todd's music recording studio. Afterward, his music and stories became a regular part of my life.

Todd's career is a complicated one, and he was not performing in 2023 due to poor health. I reached out to Todd's recording label (Aimless Records) to inquire about featuring one of his past concerts for our NYE film at LASCAUX, although nothing materialized.

In August of 2025, Todd released a new album (High, Lonesome, and Then Some) and announced a short, 4-day, string of shows with a full band. Gretchen and I were lucky enough to attend the first of these in Atlanta. Based on the success of these shows, and Todd's stamina to perform, a 14-day tour was announced, to begin in late October. Gretchen and I were also able to attend the first of these in Denver. As fate would have it, Todd wasn't able to perform at the second show, and passed away on November 14th at the age of 59.

Needless to say, this is a deeply personal film for us, and we're honored to bring it to you. The film is an intimate portrait of Todd in the last year of his life. What starts as a film about gratitude, and a way to say thank you to John Prine, becomes a rare glimpse of Todd at home in his most quiet moments. Before the film, we'll see an introduction by Otis Gibbs, Todd's close musical friend, who filmed the footage. Also, we'll see a few short clips from Todd's past performances.

If you're already a Todd Snider fan, you'll totally love this. If you're not yet a fan, you're gonna be one when this is over.

"Life's too short to worry; Life's too long to wait; Life's too short not to love everybody; Life's too long to hate." - Ballad Of The Devil's Backbone Tavern, - Todd Snider
