More memories keep flooding in from our delightful Valentine's Day 2025 Event at the Vickers Theatre. Guided by her masterful, creative sense of what makes for a great show, the architect of the evening's program, Reyna, wove together a baker's dozen songs by the band - including an exquisite interpretation of "Something Good" by Katrina and Reyna's own powerful rendition of "Rumor Has it" - with four true tales offered by our Story Club SW MI storytellers. Fred told the final story of the evening, a heartwarming and humorous account of the "meant to be" circumstances that brought together Fred and his wife, Laura.

Valentine's Day 2025 has come and gone, and yet it is still snowing, every day!!

No worries; last Friday night (February 14th), four Story Club storytellers shared the stage at the Vickers Theatre with Reyna Larson and her bandmates in a sold-out show devoted to songs of love, both spoken and sung. We have now performed together on three occasions (Two Valentine's Day shows with a Halloween gathering in between) and the "early returns" certainly suggest that we conjure a special kind of magic when we join forces as storytellers. What might come next,,,,?

We were glad and honored to enjoy the Valentine's Day festivities with many of you. In a perfect world, the magic of the evening would have included a way to expand space-time in the Theatre to accommodate everyone who wanted to join in the fun. Many thanks to Zach Hackett, the owner of the Vickers Theatre, for offering his creative "home' so that a lively group could speak, sing, listen, laugh and savor one another's company for a few hours on a Friday night in February.

Please keep an eye on this Story Club SW MI FB page, Instagram (story_club_sw_mi) and the Story Club SW MI website (storyclubswmi.com) for on-going photographic and video memories of a Valentine's Day show to remember.

The good news is that we have a full slate of Story Club SW MI events to look forward to during the rest of this year, including three different kinds of events that are now in various stages of planning for the months ahead. Please stay tuned. Thanks for your friendship and support. - Phil

The conclusion of Tom R.'S Story, "Jamie", shared with an assembled group of 100+ story lovers who gathered for the Story Club SW MI Halloween event on October 27th, 2024 in the Inner Freedom Barn in Buchanan Township.

On Oct. 27th, over 100 people in our storytelling community gathered in the Inner Freedom Barn for our Halloween Event, an extraordinary evening of ghost stories shared by 7 local storytellers woven together with the musical offerings of Reyna, Katrina, Dave and Gerald.

Tom opened the event by telling the First Part of his ghost story, "Jamie" (See below).

In the "Past Events" section of the Story Club SW MI website (StoryClubSwmi.com), you will find other videos from Story Club SW MI shows - including Jenn's ghost story, "Susan's Spirit", and the very spooky song, "Psycho" performed by Gerald and Katrina during the Halloween Event.

Story Club SW MI was excited and honored to welcome almost 100 storytelling enthusiasts to our May 23rd event on a glorious, early summer evening with the beautiful surroundings of River Saint Joe Brewery as a backdrop.
We welcomed to the microphone 7 local storytellers who delighted the audience with true tales based upon their respective lived experiences. Story topics ranged from people getting lost - on a country road late at night, during a punk rock House Show, in the Sierra Nevada mountain range and in Prague…- a friend’s dog getting lost (and found) in the air shaft of an apartment building, a lawyer’s “Perry Mason moment” and the lessons learned by a woman cyclist confronting the Sisyphean challenges of pedaling her bike up (and down) daunting hills during a cycling event.

Please watch the video of Tom’s story,”Red”, to get a sense of the stories you can expect to hear when you attend a Story Club SW MI event.

Plans are underway for our next gathering in mid-July. Please stay tuned to this FB page and/or our website (storyclubswmi.com) to get all the details on this event as soon as we release them (in the next couple days…)

It is always a good idea to secure your Story Club SW MI tickets early as they tend to get snapped up quickly.

Hope to see you again soon (in July….).

We are pleased to announce that our May 23rd STORY Club event at River Saint Joe is SOLD OUT. While we are excited to be welcoming an audience of 100 story lovers to the big tent at RSJ, we are sorry that there is not enough room for everyone who wants to join us this Thursday. Having said that, we look forward to welcoming another robust group of storytelling enthusiasts to our next gathering near the end of June or early July. Stay tuned to this FB page and/or our website (storyclubswmi.com) and instagram page for the latest news about upcoming Story Club SW MI events.
