The Costume Queen 🪡

Meet Shannon Van Zandt, Costume Designer for TTC's production of Shrek The Musical!
From fairytale creatures to ogres and dragons, Shannon has helped bring the world of Shrek to life one stitch at a time. When she's not creating costumes, she's a professor at Texas A&M University, a housing advocate, and an accomplished sewist who simply loves "making pretty things."

Shannon first joined TTC in 2016 when her daughter, Lily, appeared in Mary Poppins. Since then, she's designed costumes for productions across multiple seasons and even tackled one of TTC's biggest projects ever: our massive 17-foot-tall, 50-foot-wide stage curtain!

For Shannon, Shrek is more than a fairy tale. She loves its message that communities grow stronger when compassion replaces fear and everyone has a place to belong.

After Shrek closes, Shannon will be taking a brief break for rotator cuff surgery, but knowing Shannon, she's already looking on the bright side—her sewing machines will finally get a tune-up!

As we celebrate the reveal of Season 37, we also take a moment to honor the memory of Randy Wilson, whose impact on our theatre family continues to inspire us nearly 10 years after his passing this November.

Season 37 was chosen thoughtfully with Randy in mind—a tribute to his vision, passion, and the foundation he built. Because of Randy, our TTC family continues to grow, create, and bring stories to life.

🎞️Seeking Virtual Submissions for 35MM: A Musical Exhibition! 📽️

A picture is worth 1,000 words — what about a song? In this intricately woven collection of stories, you will see how one photograph can inspire an entirely new kind of musical. In 35mm, each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. This arrangement of beautifully crafted songs reimagines what the modern American musical can be.

*Most roles in 35MM have been precast - looking to fill the final tenor-like role*

Giving Master Props to Taylor McDuhon 🎏

Taylor McDuhon—one of the Three Little Pigs and the creative force behind many of the props in TTC’s Shrek The Musical!

A Bryan-College Station native, Taylor describes herself simply as a “hobbyist.” From crocheting and gardening to cake decorating, D&D décor, and even writing a novel, she’s always looking for her next creative challenge.

After joining TTC for Annie just a few months ago as both prop master and ensemble member (fake beard included!), Taylor is once again pulling double duty in Shrek—creating props and performing onstage. Her favorite creations this time around? The onion, the motorized rats, and the Fairytale Creatures’ props and luggage.

Taylor loves seeing rehearsals inspire her designs, calling the experience of working both cast and crew “genuinely magical.” She also connects deeply with Shrek’s message of celebrating outsiders, individuality, and community.

The kiddos from Branch Elementary School got a first look at Shrek the Musical during our preview performance before opening night!

They had just done Shrek JR and came dressed up as their characters, got to meet the cast and were the perfect audience - this being the first live theatre experience for most. Thank you Branch Elementary!

We are so sorry to keep you waiting, but the wait is finally over! We are thrilled to announce the cast of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID!

Thank you to everyone who auditioned. We were blown away by everyone, and this decision was not easy. Congratulations to our cast!
