“Queen Anne’s Lace and Goldenrod”. Oil on linen, 36”x48” MATT BARTER $6k-available. When the engine in my car blew up it gave me time to sketch these lovely flowers. I’ve never like goldenrod because my mom would always say it was the harbinger of fall and the end of summer. But I like them anyways. I like how the summer meadows roll thru their display of flowers quietly, no fanfare or trumpets, each flower takes its turn then it’s gone to make room for the next one. This painting is part of my new series, NEW MEADOWS, which opens on 10/2 at my Arthouse in Brunswick Maine from 5-7:00 pm.

“Late Summer Flowers” oil on board in a vintage frame 20”x28” $2k-available MATT BARTER. This summer I’ve been painting flowers, watching them fade, new varieties of flowers replace them. Then the flowers stop appearing and we are left with all the wiry, dried out remains as the summer dwindles away. This painting captures that and the long light of fall. Part of my series, “NEW MEADOWS” which opens 10/2 from 5-7:00 pm at The Arthouse in Brunswick Maine.
