We're honored to be a part of Spindleworks Art Center's history. The impact they've made in our community is substantial; we hope you'll celebrate their decades of work in this event at Bowdoin College Museum of Art!

Join us for an evening of film celebrating the creativity, history, and voices of the Spindleworks Art Center community. ✨✨

Thursday, July 23, 2026 | 4:30 to 6:00pm | Beam Classroom, Visual Arts Center

The program will feature a montage of footage spanning five decades; documentation of community events and performances; collaborations with The Theater Project; artist-created short films; and other highlights from the Spindleworks archives. Together, these films offer a unique glimpse into the artistic spirit, relationships, and creative legacy that have defined Spindleworks for fifty years.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition "Celebrating Independence! Fifty Years of Spindleworks, 1976–2026," on view now at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art through August 16.

Written and directed by our Summer Camp Director, Keith Anctil, these original productions are performed by our young summer campers. Each camp session spends two weeks rehearsing and designing elements of their plays.

Pie Rats of the Caribbean runs July 24th-26th, and Pandora's Box: Return to Sender! runs August 14th-16th. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 6PM, and Sunday begins at 2PM.

If you haven't erupted into a fiery inferno, come check out our show next Friday! Coolest place in town. Figuratively...there are others probably cooler in terms of temperature.

The Theater Project wishes Tess' Market a happy retirement as they close their business at the end of the month. Tess’ Market has been a longtime supporter of The Theater Project, and has served our community for over 71 years, serving delicious foods, wine, and joy all around. Tess’ Market provided for our opening nights, our auctions, and a number of other special events over the years.

Our founder, Al Miller, developed a half-fantasy, half-realistic musical titled LaFille at Tess’ Market. Premiering in 2010 and 2013, this production included characters inspired from real community members–including Tess, whom he played. The play pulled from Brunswick’s own history, past and present, interweaving all of the aspects of what makes our town special; and a deep appreciation for the long-established business and the people who continue its legacy.

“Those close to La Fille in the play are Tess, the late owner of Tess' Market, and Dancer, her silent partner. There is also a musician, a troubadour, who gets to know her. What these three discover about her is that she travels, or seems to, through time and space, going back to the late 1800's and the mid 1950's in Brunswick. She visits the Cabot Mill and the Franco-American community when the mill was active, wanders in Merrymeeting Park over 100 years ago, and goes to St. John's Bazaar in the past and present.”

Al and Tess’ connection fostered what it means to have community support among us all. We’re honored to have partnered with them all these years. Happy retirement and best wishes on your next adventures!

Voices in the Mirror has officially wrapped at The Theater Project! Congratulations to our Young Company for putting on an incredible show.

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who made this production--and this whole season--possible! A big round of applause for our cast, our crew, our sponsors, and you, our audience. We're grateful to have support from our community, and have the ability to provide creative opportunities like Voices in the Mirror for you, our community members.
