Mr. V was a great man, a great actor, a great mentor and a perpetual cheerleader for both me and Edmonson County Drama.

Whenever he was in a show, I would fill the van, or a bus, full of students to go see him work. His acting seemed effortless and his voice rumbled like thunder under the mountain.

Whenever he subbed for me, I knew he wouldn’t use my lesson plans. Instead, he worked with my Drama darlings on their craft and told my English students stories about a world very different from their own.

This picture of us was taken when I ran into him a few years ago at a Panera, too early in the morning for the average mortal to be awake. He invited me to breakfast and we laughed so hard and loud, I’m surprised they didn’t ask us to leave!

I adored him, as everyone should. This is a great loss to our community.

Jessie Varner’s visitation will be on June 30th Tuesday from 2pm till 8pm at Hardy and Son funeral home in Smiths Grove KY. 226 Broadway street 42101. His funeral will be Wednesday July 1st at 11am at Oakland mount Zion Baptist church. 109 young street oakland ky 42159. Visitation at the church before funeral from 930-11am. Food will be served after burial services at the church.

EC Drama has had a busy weekend, with a hike at Natural Bridge (Sponsored by the Edmonson County Outdoors Society) and our first Kentucky Shakespeare show of the season!

Happy graduation week Edmonson County! 🎓🐾🔴🔵
This week, EC Drama will be spotlighting our seniors to celebrate them as they move to a new chapter!
Our next senior is Avery Phillips! Avery is a Drama 2 student whose favorite role was stage managing Charley’s Aunt with her student director Evy Bolton. Her favorite memory was getting to watch new drama students blossom and grow throughout the course of a show. She will miss getting to meet and be part of such a diverse group. After graduation, Avery will be attending cosmetology school to become a nail technician
We are so excited to see what Avery will do next and wish her the best of luck! 🌟

Our next senior is Makaila Palmer! Makaila is a Drama 4 student whose favorite role was stage managing her first production, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Her favorite memory was watching Charley’s Aunt from the audience as they tried to get Ian out of his dress. She will miss her friends and the Drama community the most. After graduation, Makaila will be pursuing degrees in theater technology and environmental technology at Centre College.
We are so excited to see what Makaila will do next and wish her the best of luck! 🌟

This week, EC Drama will be spotlighting our seniors to celebrate them as they move to a new chapter!
Our first senior is Seth Miller! Seth is a Drama 1 student whose favorite role is Prince Florizell in The Winter’s Tale. His favorite memory was switching clothes with Josie during that production. He will miss the community that EC Drama is the most. After graduation, Seth will be attending Western Kentucky University pursuing a degree in music education in order to become a Band Director and Percussion Instructor in the future!
We are so excited to see what Seth will do next and wish him the best of luck! 🌟
