CineSurge Summer Showdown 🎆

The CineSurge Summer Showdown is a free 48-hour film race that challenged eight filmmaking teams to write, shoot, and edit an original short film in a single weekend.

The challenge took place May 29–31, 2026, bringing together filmmakers from across the Rio Grande Valley to create brand-new films under the pressure of a strict deadline.

This Friday, June 19, all eight films will officially premiere beginning at 8:00 PM CT.

Audiences may attend the in-person screening at CommonSpace in McAllen or watch from anywhere through the CineSurge app.

Following the screenings, CineSurge will livestream the Summer Showdown Awards Show at approximately 9:30 PM CT, where the winning teams will be announced.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 teams:

1st Place – $500
2nd Place – $300
3rd Place – $150
