Last year of Linoleum Disc Jockeys, Memory Post #6!

Let's talk about a DJ's best friend.....BOOZE! It has the ability to make you dance when you think you can't! I can always feel when the alcohol kicks in. And the dancing gets more insane with each minute. I've seen more people dancing that I still don't know how they were even standing! You should see from my vantage point all the wild stuff I've seen!

It all started with the very first wedding I ever did. I watched a grandma of the groom carry in two gallon milk jugs of a reddish liquid that looked like kerosene. When I asked her what it was she said proudly "my own special brew, Red Eye, have some and you'll find out why it's called that in the morning". That was when I realized weddings are about family traditions, even with alcohol!

Many more fun experiences. Watching bridal parties down bottle after bottle of Fireball (thanks Pitbull), Jagermeister, Champagne and even MALORT (smells like pure gasoline). I've seen many times bridal parties got Smirnoff Iced. Watched shot after shot. And even got the pleasure of watching a few Slap the Bags (boxed wine...you take out the bag full of wine with the spicate and then pass it around to "slap" and take a pull of it). And I can definitely say flasks have made a comeback! I've seen many weddings raffle a cooler or wheelbarrow loaded with booze (and one dude who won once and opened and shared it all....nothing was left, they drank it ALL)!

In fact, the very first wedding Andrea LaPlant (the wife) came with me to help out, she watched all the drunken chaos and said "I've never been to a wedding sober before and after what I've seen tonight, I don't think I'll drink at one again! Is this what it's like to watch a wedding from the outside!" But to be fair, they did carry around the bride and groom around on chairs.....LOL

At the end of the night is what I call the drink graveyard...the soaking wet dancing floor full of spilled drinks. Where all good drinks get spilled and go to die. And I've even seen someone do the worm across that type of dancefloor, only to stand up with a soaked shirt and sticky bar straws all over their chest. And I can't tell you what a room looks like when the lights come back on. Hundreds of drinks everywhere.

And the alcohol songs....Shots, Tipsy, Bottoms Up, Bartender, Drunk and I Don't Wanna Go Home, Red Solo Cup, Tequila, Gin and Juice....the list goes on and on. Always the perfect anthem for a good party! Music and Alcohol are always the ingredients for an amazing wedding! :)

Last year of Linoleum Disc Jockeys, Memory Post #5!

It takes a great team to pull off an amazing wedding! I'm gonna use my 5th post to recognize all the vendors and people who make every wedding go off without a hitch! Every single wedding I do has immaculate and unique details, all of which are extremely important to each couple. It's my job, and the job of every vendor, to give their all for each couple on their special day.

Over the last 15 years I've had to coordinate with wedding officiants, musicians, photographers, videographers, photobooths, caterers, cake makers, venue staff, bartenders, florists, event coordinators, day of event planners, security...the list goes on and on.

Wedding professionals really give their heart and soul into this business. I've met some truly amazing people over the years, all who have a passion for whatever avenue they are representing for the bride and groom.

I just want to thank everyone who has worked with me along the way to make each event amazing!

Last year of Linoleum Disc Jockeys, Memory Post #4!

When you're planning a wedding sometimes years in advance, you never know what curveballs might happen along the way!

Like having back surgery in the middle of wedding season in one of the busiest months (had surgery on a Tuesday and DJ'd a wedding that Saturday) or when you break your ankle the morning of a wedding (still dj'd the event and had surgery the week after). Somehow, I was able to DJ through both of these crazy times (with a lot of help from others of course).

And then there was Covid.....how do you plan for that to happen! DJing through a pandemic had its challenges for sure. Alot of venues closed down so people had to get creative. People moved their weddings to homes, alternative venues, etc. I still managed to DJ twenty-one weddings that year with only two that inevitably cancelled. Incredible to think I got through that year.

The show must always go on! :)

Final year of Linoleum Disc Jockeys, memories post #3 (March).

One of the most important parts of being a DJ is the MOBILE part! Over the last 15 years I have driven 56,464 miles. It usually means late nights, gas station food and snacks. It can mean sometimes leaving my home early in the morning on a wedding day and getting home very late (sometimes as late as 4:00 a.m.!).

I've dealt with deer collisions (I've hit 2 on my way home from weddings). It can mean dealing with all variations of weather from -30 windchills to thunderstorms. Lots of loading in and loading out of venues and dealing with varieties of logistical issues.

I've had my Expedition for almost the entirety of my Linoleum DJ career. It's always been my main DJ vehicle. I got the DJ trailer the year after that. I've been fortunate they have held up over all these years (with a few minor issues). Ironically enough I even used the Expedition to DJ a few weddings for daughters of the guy I bought it from!

Being mobile can have its challenges. My trailer broke down once on the way to a prom and once on my way to Perham (road salt apparently is VERY tough on trailers). And I've had to limp the truck home from Red Wing, Wahpeton and Parkers Prairie. But I've always made it to every show. Every single time. 568 gigs over 15 years and never missed one. I am beyond proud that I have always been reliable for my clients and I always show up!

Final year of Linoleum DJ! Here is my February memories post…..

As a mobile and active DJ, ive had the opportunity to DJ in some unique situations. I
thought I would explore a few fun shows Ive done. Ive dj’d on Valentine’s Day OVER a bowling alley, for a UFC event, and I dj’d pre parties for Little Texas, Firehouse and Warrant. Ive DJ’d in the Mustang Lounge at Shooting Star after a Styx concert.

Ive DJ’d on New Years Eve 3 times which also produced probably my favorite picture ever as I shot a confetti cannon at midnight and a photgrapher captured the incredible moment.

Many more fun and unique gigs to name! Again I am blessed that I have been able to do this……i even learned how they get a couple to kiss in Spain and met a father of the bride who grew up in Cuba and was in keyboard player in Gloria Estefan’s band!

THANK YOU for so much fun! I’m really looking forward to my final shows this year! ☺️

Linoleum Disc Jockeys celebrates its 15th birthday today! From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has booked me for an event over the past 15 years. It has been an honor to provide entertainment, memories and good times for all of my clients and guests!

This is also a surreal moment as I enter my 16th and final year of Linoleum Disc Jockeys. I thought that I would celebrate everything I have done over the years along with some fun moments and facts each month this year up until the end of 2026.

To start things off, I am humbled each time a couple tells me what an amazing time they had at their wedding! I have kept every single thank you card I have received over the years. I am proud of each and every one of these as well as every wedding I have done. I put everything I have to making weddings as special as possible!

So, watch for a post from me each month on the 14th as I share another new and fun moment from my Linoleum Disc Jockeys' career!!!!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!

Happy 14th Birthday Linoleum Disc Jockeys! I founded the company on January 14th, 2011. And another busy year ahead in 2025 coming up! I wanna start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has hired me for their wedding, prom, party, etc!!! I am humbled to have been able to do this for so long and at such a high level! I really put my heart and soul into this and try to give everyone the most amazing event possible.

As I look forward to the future though, it is time to set a goodbye date. I'm not getting any younger! Since I started LDJ, I have done 545 gigs with 361 of those being weddings. Considering that I will hit my 365th wedding in early 2025 that means I have dedicated an entire YEAR of my life to weddings through Linoleum DJ (As well as quite a few before I started the company). Which seems insane to me!

Since I will be turning 50 in April 2027 (I know right.....holy crap!), I have decided that 2026 will be the final year of LDJ. I had always planned on stopping for sure before I turned 50, so it just seems like the right time. I want to stop while I am still a great DJ and not fade out.

Today marks an incredible milestone for Linoleum Disc Jockeys! Wedding #300!!! I could never have imagined when I started this adventure a little over 11 years ago that I would hit this milestone….its beyond humbling to have been a part of so many love stories, so many families, so many laughs, and so many memories. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!! Love still exists in the world and every time I see a couple look into each others eyes during a first dance, Im reminded of that. ❤️

I am honored and humbled to say that today, January 14, 2021 marks TEN YEARS since I founded Linoleum Disc Jockeys! When I started this adventure all those years ago, I never imagined that I would be here at this point. I have been truly blessed to be a part of so many special days for so many special couples. I've gotten to know families and amazing venue owners. Met many new people, had many miles on the road, and have enjoyed fun and crazy times with all of you. I've seen literally EVERYTHING you can possibly think that would have happened at an event. I wanna say from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU to all of you for allowing me to have the opportunity to entertain all of you! DJing is a passion for me and I am beyond lucky to do something I love!

Here are some incredible numbers in TEN YEARS:

2. 269 Wedding Dances
3. 172 Other Gigs (Prom, Bar Shows, Etc)
4. I've done weddings in 63 different cities covering 4 states (MN, ND SD, WI).
